To All Kerry & Clark Supporters: Important Info
Today I watched Fox News Sunday, & at the end of show during discussion, they talked about the rumor. The panel was Chris Wallace, Brit Hume, Juan Williams, Bill Cristol, & CeeCee Connolly Wash Post.

After much discussion, they admitted there is no there there. All there is is an internet rumor, & no facts.

Then they discussed it's origin. Someone said Clark, & Cee Cee said that was not true. She had talked to each reporter present for the discussion Wes had with them, & he said NOTHING about an affair, & there was no smear. The discussion mentioned Kerry & it was something nebulous.

So if this is FOX, & that's what they are reporting, then there is no affair & no Wes rumour. I was really glad about both, & thought you'd like to know.

5. Um, the argument is that the claim is of SUCH dubious merit
that even Fox won't stand behind it. If it were only Fox denying it, then that would be peculiar; but when only sources even below Fox (Drudge, WorldNetDaily, and sometimes DU) give it heed, then it's likely pure crapola

I mean this point is really pretty obvious.

6. If Fox had 1 bit of evidence
they'd be going 24 hrs a day with it.

That was my point.

3. thanks for the report.... given that faux is the echo chamber of choice
for rove et al... this is good news. It has to be more than just 'weak' for it to get dismissed (and turned back) on fox... they run with nearly anything.

4. Hmmm... That's good - but it's also intriguing
Why would Fox do their bit in putting this urban legend to rest? Are we seeing Rupert Murdoch being angry at Bush here?

Odd... Interesting.

But I'm glad that they're airing the baseless nature of that smear - for the sake of Kerry and Clark.

Thanks for posting this!

11. Fox didn't put it to rest...
Ceci Connolly did. Which is astounding enough, given her own penchant for getting things bitchily wrong, but she's not Rupert Murdoch's proxy. Not even Fox really polices every word that comes out of every guest's mouth.

Glad to see this put firmly to bed. However, I doubt if the Kerry campaign took the "Clark" aspect of this drudgery seriously for a moment. Even some "mainstream" Democrats have seen enough of how the Party of Filth operates to be prepared for stuff like this.

12. Not surprising
Even dirty bird Chris Lehane seems to be getting blamed unfairly, nevermind Clark, who would never have said such a thing.

I've posted this 20 times already, but it can't hurt to put it up again. Nobody ever pays attention to it, anyway.

"The Drudge item blaming Lehane quoted Craig Crawford, a former Democratic operative who now works as a consultant and columnist for MSNBC. Within 10 minutes after Drudge posted the Kerry intern item, Crawford sent a memo to his superiors that said the story was "something Chris Lehane (clark press secy) has shopped around for a long time." According to Crawford, someone at MSNBC promptly leaked his memo to Drudge. But when Lehane called Crawford with a loudly indignant denial, the MSNBC columnist quickly issued a public retraction. He said:

"The comments attributed to me are from a private email to television news associates based on conversations with Democratic campaign operatives. I did not consider any of it confirmed enough to report or publish. I can only verify that Chris Lehane's rivals in other Democratic campaigns made these claims and I have found no independent source to confirm it. Which is why we did not go with the story. But then someone sent my email to others, which is the only reason it got into the public domain." In other words, there is no proof that Lehane circulated the rumor, let alone that the rumor has any basis in reality."

14. It's pretty obvious what's going on
The whole Kerry intern story and Clark's alleged comments were part of an RNC orchestrated smear tactic. By endorsing Kerry, Clark effectively neutralized this script before it spiraled out of control. Apparently, Clark and Kerry had a series of conversations following the TN and VA primaries, and Clark decided to stand up for Kerry and prove that the Drudged up report had absolutely no merit. The RNC saw their story backfire. They're now quietly playing it down and planning their next move.

Clark is now fully committed to fighting for John Kerry and to getting the Republican thugs out of the White House come November.

Here are a couple of revealing quotes from Clark's endorsement speech:

"I will do everything I can to help when the Republican Mean Machine cranks up their attacks. I will do everything I can to help make sure George W. Bush doesn't get away with playing politics with national security."

"John Kerry has been the kind of leader America needs. He will stand up to the Republican attack dogs and send them home licking their wounds."

We are all in this fight together now. It does not matter who the nominee is anymore. We are up against an ugly, immoral and vicious Republican smear campaign and it will take our collective will to fight back. We all need to rally around Kerry despite out differences.

And if you though things couldn't get more despicable, check this out:

Photo of John Kerry and Fonda was doctored by Republicans!!

17. Rove/Drudge Tried To Kill Kerry & Clark With One Stone
and that some on DU are stupid enough to give any credit to this nonsense is beyond me.

Hell, even the NYTimes smeared Clark AFTER he left the race.
