GMA was not bad today when they did the Obama sex ed story. The correspondent actually smirked
but not at the clip of Obama! He smirked after the Romney clip where Mitt said that zero information was the right amount for kindergartners, putting his thumb and forefinger together in an "0".

However, GMA did its usual slant to the story -- sensationalism of course. I expected much worse!

1. It would be pretty difficult to report this "story" with a...
straight face. What a crock of shit. I think my head will probably explode before this race is over..:eyes:

2. Well, this is hindsight but I think Obama should have said at
the outset that parents should be the primary sex educators of their children, which of course is merely stating the obvious. This is the view of Planned Parenthood. Nobody would have disagreed with that statement. The problem comes, of course, with what can be done if parents simply will NOT talk about sex with their kids, except maybe to lie.

GMA played Obama's initial statement, including the qualifier "science based." We know so well who will disagree with that!

5. I would think and hope only the most avid kool-aid drinkers..
could construe this to mean that Obama was advocating teaching sex to 5 year olds, so in the end I think this could be a really good way to get the Repubs this time, keep painting them as the raving lunatic extremists that they are, and make them prove it over and over.

7. Agreed. My approach has been simple: ignore all of it.
I have committed to no candidate. I read nothing about them. I watch no debates. I'm looking to change this in November when I start getting myself involved.

In the mean time, it's clear that what's happening now is truly meaningless.

4. This story only reiterates how dishonest
and disingenuous republicans are
and to what lengths they'll twist
the truth ...for their own greedy means.

Romney's looking pretty darn slimy in all this.
Someone get him a towel.

6. I thought Romney was indicating a vagina with his hand.
You know, sign language for kindergartners. Oh wait, that's right, he flipflopped. Silly me.

8. Politico's Jonathan Martin: Romney also once back "age-appropriate" sex ed
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 07:37 AM by flpoljunkie
Romney also once backed "age-appropriate" sex ed

Former Gov. Mitt Romney attacked Sen. Barack Obama yesterday for purportedly wanting sex education in kindergarten.

It turns out, Romney himself once indicated support for the same sort of sex-ed approach -- "age-appropriate" -- that Obama backs.

In a Planned Parenthood questionnaire he filled out during his 2002 gubernatorial run, Romney checked 'yes' to a question asking, "Do you support the teaching of responsible, age-appropriate, factually accurate health and sexuality education, including information about both abstinence and contraception, in public schools?"

The answer, pointed out by a rival campaign, was resurrected in 2005 when Romney was criticized by Massachusetts pro-choice groups when he began to push an abstinence-heavy focus on sex education. Still, his spokesman said then that he still backed a "comprehensive" approach on teaching public school kids about sex.

But last night, sensing an opportunity to burnish his cultural conservative credentials, Romney used a speech before a Colorado GOP group to light into his potential rival on the issue.

10. The shrewish witch Barbara Comstock..
last night kept talking about Obama speaking in front of the left wing Planned Parenthood group, and Mike Barnacle said a couple of times, but Governor Romney has too, and she would just talk over him, never replied to that..they can run but they can't hide.
