http://kucinich.us/node/4803Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich out-polled front runners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and all but one of the other Democratic candidates in an online poll that asked the question: "Which candidate's position on dealing with the climate crisis do you prefer?"
Only former Senator John Edwards received more votes than Kucinich. Senator Clinton came in third, Senator Obama fourth, and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson fifth. The other candidates were in single digits.
The voting began Saturday night immediately following a Virtual Town Hall Meeting sponsored by MoveOn.org and concluded at midnight Tuesday. The Virtual Town Hall, at which candidates answered questions about climate change and global warning, coincided with the "Live Earth" concerts around the world.
Although the other campaigns are out-spending Kucinich by tens of millions of dollars and ahead of him in national polls, "When voters have an opportunity to look closely at the issues and thoughtfully evaluate all of our positions, the results are vastly different," Kucinich said.
"What voters are looking for is a candidate who has consistently displayed leadership on all of the important issues facing this nation," he said.
"I was the only candidate to vote against the war authorization in 2002, the only one to vote against every war-funding measure, the only one to author federal legislation to create a not-for-profit, single-payer, national health insurance plan to cover all Americans, the only one to call for the repeal of trade agreements that have devastated our manufacturing industries, and the only one to propose a comprehensive program (the Works Green Administration) to create millions of new jobs through new energy and new environmental technologies."
When voters look beyond the personalities and the rhetoric and the expensive campaign hoopla, "They will see that I stand for what they believe in."
