I want to share with you a letter from V. Goode in response to my email about Bush's commutation of Libby's sentence. I asked him to ask Bush to change his decision. The following is his letter to me.
Dr. Mr. and Mrs... Thank you very much for your communication expressing opposition to the decision by President Bush to eliminate the thirty months prison sentence for Lewis Libby. I have no intention of asking President Bush to change his decision on that matter until President Clinton is convicted and sentenced for his perjury. President Clinton, after being duly sworn in court proceeding, stated in response to a question from his own lawyer that it was "absolutely true" that he did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky. There were even some statements from the Clinton Justice Department that perjury was not often pursued by them. Then Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald stated how important it was for government officials to tell the truth. I think it would be appropriate for Mr. Libby and Mr. Clinton to serve their time together. Thank you again for your communication on this matter. Whenever you have a question or comment concerning any federal issue, I would be glad to hear from you.
Sincerely yours, Virgil H. Goode, Jr
Now that you have read this, please give me your ideas about how to answer this. I've already written a response and will mail it on Monday. Let me hear some more of you people from Virginia as well. I was happy to read the post about VA going for a Dem president in '08. Lordy, let it be true. Thanks for you input. Fran
