1. What should be done? IMHO, allow the system to play out.
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 04:55 PM by w4rma
The candidates should treat Dean and his supporters honorably and don't ignore us as was done in the build up to the Iraq invasion.

Stop doing THIS (see below) to us at every available opportunity (not you, personally) for our 'sin' of supporting Gov. Dean:

7. I've seen the tension, but where does it come from?
Dean supporters and supporters of most of the other candidates just don't get along. What's the root of this?

It can't just be anti-war versus not anti-war. I've met plenty of extremely anti-war Edwards people. I'm one myself.

I just don't get it.

10. It comes from the daily abuse heaped on our campaign.
Sen. Edwards and Rep. Kucinich have largely foregone the opportunity to engage in it, thankfully.

3. Sure. But there aren't alot of Dean supporters.
Democrats aren't even voting for him.

After the race is officially Kerry vs. Bush, there will be no problem with the liberal vote.

Bank on it.

4. There are a whole lot of Democrats who were once Dean supporters
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 05:01 PM by w4rma
No matter how you slice it.

And that will likely be the case for myself as soon as this primary winds down.

5. Excuse me if I find this attitude patronizing.
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 05:06 PM by brigadoon
First, I dislike the term "deanieboppers". Most of the people I have seen at meet-ups and those who have actively worked for Dean are definately not in that age group.

Second, I don't like the fact that you feel the need to manipulate Dean supporters. Believe me when I say we can make our own decisions.

Fortunately, we do not hold Edwards responsible for the faux paus of his supporters.

Thank you.

9. I edited the message. Is it more palatable? Honestly I'm concerned about
alienating this new batch of politically active individuals from the process and want to know if anything can be done about it.

6. Some of us have more important things to do, such as...
Many of us are issue-oriented and have more important things to do, such as:

World Social Forum Backs March 20 Global Day of Protest
Over 150 Groups Endorse Call to Action

Momentum is building around the world for the Global Day of Action against War and Occupation on March 20, the one-year anniversary of the U.S. bombing and invasion of Iraq.

On that day, people on every continent will take to the streets to say YES to peace and NO to pre-emptive war and occupation. Joining with growing numbers of military families and soldiers, we will call for an end to the occupation of Iraq and Bush’s militaristic foreign policies, and highlight the linkages between the occupations of Iraq and Palestine. March 20 will be the first time the world's "other superpower," as The New York Times described us, will take center stage since February 15, when more than 15 million people across the globe expressed their opposition to Bush's looming war on Iraq.

The March 20 Global Day of Action has been endorsed by the Global Assembly of the Anti-War Movement, the World Social Forum, and the 3rd Hemispheric Forum Against the FTAA. A vast and diverse array of organizations worldwide are hard at work mobilizing for the day.

In the United States, there will be a massive protest in New York City plus dozens of local and regional demonstrations across the country.

Politically, the U.S. protests will also take on the domestic impact of Bush's foreign policies—what some people call "the war at home." We will express the growing opposition to the USA PATRIOT Act, which has authorized political arrests, indefinite detentions, domestic spying, and religious and racial profiling. We will call for an end to the mass detentions and deportations of innocent immigrants in the name of fighting terrorism. We will say no to massive military spending amidst vast cuts in vital domestic social and economic programs.

Gee, thanks for really caring about & incorporating the issues
that Dean has campaigned on into your candidate's platform.

I resent the attitude and the post.

and flame away, but if people cannot see a candidate who was truthful and on message when it wasn't politically correct to be so and not really back him wholeheartedly really don't deserve change.

"As annoying as many people think they are, losing them would not be a good thing."

As annoying as I think some Edwards supporters are, I'll try to forget their backhanded compliments if he happens to win the nom.

with the wording of your post.

And these topics trying to strategize on how to *use* us are like vultures hovering. We went through this once right after Iowa and NH, and the farther we go towards Super Tuesday, the more we get.

How about NOT making plans on using us, and just support YOUR candidate. I'm an adult who can choose where to throw my support just fine on my own.

many of those pesky, annoying Dean supporters are already lost. The shoddy treatment we've recieved at the hands of the party, and party minions ensures that we're going elsewhere.

18. What's Kerry's message?
The campaign is STILL running with the notion that he's the only one who can beat Bush.
Not true.

Isn't it nice that those quaint Dean supporters were SO instrumental in speaking out against Bush. Now, step aside and let the REAL adults do the hard stuff. You served your purpose, but we are running with the ball now..... :eyes: WE ARE JUST SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU BUT YOU WERE ALL JUST TOO HYSTERICAL AND TRUTHFUL. WHAT MATTERS NOW IS BEATING BUSH.

UGH. :(
