Definition of Progressive/Liberal/Moderate
Is there a simple identification between the various levels of being on the "left"...

can someone help me describe the differences between liberal, progressive, etc ?

1. I don't know what most here think but...
the Repugs want classify all Dems as libs and they consider that to many hippies,or people that they classify as not mainstream whatever that means. I could consider my self all of them because I am liberal,progressive,moderate as well as conservative it depends on the issue.

4. Liberal and moderate describe political goals;
"progressive" describes tactics, in contrast to "radical"

However lately you often see people calling themselves "progressive" who reject progressive attainment of objective and agitate for radical change instead. Many of these folks probably don't want to call themselves what they are - "radical" - because "radical" has negative connotations, and is often (erroneously) assumed to mean supporting violent means as well.

5. This is so interesting---the fact that we must ask
illustrates the weakness in our party. I keep hoping
and hoping that we can one day once again say we are
Democrats and this is where we stand. Our party beilievs.........
