Hate was on air on C-span this morning when the issue was immigration and talk hosts making a diff..

Everyone was talking about how the talk show hosts were changing the way the laws were being formed by their participation in the discussion. All I heard was hate and ruining our country etc...
Plus so many kept saying talk radio was all we have (right wing) because the liberals have all the other news print and tv. What a crock.
I have some questions about immigration. I wonder if most illegals have fake id's because if they do then the lie that they don't pay taxes is just that a lie as money would be withheld in their pay checks. (plus when they buy anything they pay taxes.) Next question, if most don't have fake ids then the employers have to know they are illegal if they do then they are the ones breaking the law. Everyone screams about the illegals breaking the laws but say nothing about the employers who break the law making it possible for the illegals to break the law. What are some answers to illegal immigration that most DUers adhere to? It seems logical to let the ones working and living here stay and become citizens and then end all low-wage jobs. If the job is in the USA then pay USA wages.
This should end the dilemma. Everyone gets a living wage then the employer will be forced to hire citizens because they would have to pay fair wages. The smuggling of workers would end if the employer could not hire them. This is where the problem lies.

1. Fake IDS
The Social Security trust fund collects billions of dollars in bogus FICA taxes from fake id holders. These funds go into the 'suspense account' which account contains hundreds of billions of dollars. Bottom line, the line that they do not want you to notice: SS is partially funded by illegal immigration.

and thinks through a problem to its logical conclusion. You just did that. To verify what you said, I once worked for a pizza chain and did the payroll for all their stores. They hired a lot immigrants and probably many of them were illegal because the minimum wage didn't attract enough native, local help. They had documentation though and SS#'s. I know for a fact that they paid taxes because I was the person that took the deductions. As a matter of fact in my lifetime, I worked at several restaurants in various capacities including doing payroll and every single one of them took tax deductions from everyone's wages.

The chain also offered a health plan if they wanted it. The chain paid for half and the other half was deducted from their wages. This belies much of the rhetoric about them using our emergency facilities because they can't pay for health care. If Congress raised the national minimum wage to where it is a living wage, more Americans would take those jobs and there would be less need for immigrant labor.

7. I love it when the wingers get their fury up on Washington Journal.
they sound so damn clueless. They are shouting and accusing and don't even know why half the time. Especially on Fridays with Brian Lamb. His questioning takes the wind out of them fast. fun.
