Bush's approval rating at 26%
June 21, 2007 - In 19 months, George W. Bush will leave the White House for the last time. The latest NEWSWEEK Poll suggests that he faces a steep climb if he hopes to coax the country back to his side before he goes. In the new poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday nights, President Bush’s approval rating has reached a record low. Only 26 percent of Americans, just over one in four, approve of the job the 43rd president is doing; while, a record 65 percent disapprove, including nearly a third of Republicans.

1. Honestly, I'm amazed that it's still that high.
Someone must be cookin' the books. Any ex Arthur Andersen people out there?

I would believe Bush is more in the 15-18% approval range. That seems more accurate to me. The mere mention of the little man's name causes all kinds of eye rolling, lip pursing, and head nodding. And that's just Republicons.

5. 20% of the country believes the end times are here, so the real question is what is with the 6%?

2. I hate to say this, but -- so what?
It appears to me that his approval rating could be zero and Congress would still do nothing to stop him or the actions of those who follow his orders.

Congress can't even agree to impeach Gonzales. It's pathetic.

4. Must be racking up
quite a phone bill to find the Bush supporters. Save money and look under rocks.

6. Meanwhile, Giuliani and McCain now trail all Democrats
according to a couple of the most recent polls.
It's a bad time to be not only Bush, but a republican.

8. I think it is probably the right number.
Remember he had a 90% approval rating after 911. From I personal perspective, I was never in the 90% and find it hard to believe that only 10% disapproved of him. A lot of the variable could be how the questions are asked along with a certain % of the populous is going to stand behind the Commander in Chief, especially republicans. So maybe 1 in 5 or less think he is doing a good job, the rest aren't paying close attention and support the office.

10. Yes, we don't know the wording of the questions.
And we don't know if the numbers have been cooked or not.
And yes it is possible that a quarter of the population like him.
Sad but possible.

9. Low as Nixon....But I
hope the Dems do not play this impeachment card. Tough to get 60 senators to vote to impeach him.....Let him be, and if the dems in the senate will use their power instead of being pink tutus and exert that power they could control bush.
I do thank you
Ben David

11. From USAToday 5/8/2006
When Nixon, Carter and the elder Bush sank below 35%, they never again registered above 40%.
