DEMOCRATS CAUCUS TODAY: Kerry visits Las Vegas
Front-runner looks to extend win streak, build base in state for November

By ERIN NEFF
REVIEW-JOURNAL

On the eve of today's presidential caucuses, Democratic front-runner John Kerry told a raucous crowd of 3,000 supporters Friday night that while he knows Las Vegas is a betting town, "I can promise you I won't bet on the Bush economic plan."

Kerry removed his suit jacket and worked the crowd for 30 minutes, promising health care for all Americans, a repeal of tax cuts to help fund veterans programs and, most of all, an end to the Bush administration.

"Tomorrow, Nevada has a chance to be able to pick the next president of the United States of America," he said from a riser in the center of Valley High School's gymnasium.

"I've come here tonight not to mark the eve of the caucus, but to begin the end of the Bush presidency."

5. I was at the rally.
It was great....3000 foot-stomping, yelling Democrats! It just felt so good to be with so many others who want Bush out as badly as I do. Kerry is the only cadidate who came to see us this week, and I appreciate that he did it. His speech was very good, and the crowd loved it. (It was the speech I have seen on CSPAN before, but it was still exciting.) To go to an event like that, it gives one hope that Democrats are actually determined to get rid of Bush. I know the ones I was with last night are.
