Poll question: Dean supporters: If Dean bows out, what are you going to do?
Unfortunately, this Wisconsin thing is looking like it's probably not going to happen. There are rumors going around that Dean's getting out of the race after Tuesday. If he does, what are you going to do?

1. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it
I'll let my credit card cool off a little.

Possibly enjoy a refreshing beverage or two.

Get some new steel toed boots with which to kick Bush* in the balls.

2. If Dean drops out.....
1. If he ENODORSES and FULLY SUPPORTS Kerry(or Edwards) like how Clark caved: I'm seriously leaning towards a viable thrid party alternative. This would seriously deminish my respect for Dean.

2. If he drops out with an endorsement to the nominee....I'm not so sure at this point.

Like I've stated...

ABB = "If you don't stand with the President, you stand with the terrorists!"

Dissent IS patriotic!

15. Thank you for being gracious!
In all fairness, one of the things that made me arrive at that decision has been that Sen. Edwards' supporters have not hovered vulture-like over us, unlike so many others. Futhermore, evenm though I do not agree with some of his positions, I believe him to be a genuine populist and a fundamentally decent and honest person.

7. Dean was right: my support is nontransferable
I will vote for the Democrat while holding my nose.
However, that DLC-picked, Bush-enabling, special-interest-money collecting, dull uninspiring wishy washy blowin-with-the-wind SOB can get along without my financial contributions, pavement-pounding legwork, impassioned letters or other campaigning. Sorry, for that my heart would have to be into it. I'd have to BELIEVE in the guy. And I don't. Let the sheeple who are so crazy about him promote the myth that he is somehow different from what we have now.

8. I'm voting for the Dem nominee but
have left the Party. I was on that road before Dean's grassroots emphasis made me work for him over the past year. Now I'm back to being an independent small "d" democrat and will continue working with and organizing grassroots groups.

This isn't sour grapes...I just feel more natural in this kind of activism than I do working within a Party apparatus.

Our Dean Meetup has already said that we're going to continue on as a Progressive Meetup regardless of what happens to Dean. We have his campaign to thank for bringing such a variety of people and views together, something, unfortunately, I don't see the other candidates doing as successfully.

16. Vote for Sen. Edwards, likely.
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 10:39 AM by SadEagle
If Sen. Edwards drop out too, I'll just vote for Dean, since he'll likely still be on the NY primary ballot... The only time I'd vote for Kerry in the primaries is if there was a serious chance of Sharpton doing very well if I don't; but that's unlikely in the 29th CD (on the other hand, I imagine Sharpton will do pretty well in the 28th). GE is of course an another matter -- the nominee gets my vote until something dramatic happens.

19. You gotta be a spirit. Don't be no ghost
I keep posting this relentlessly, until I probably annoy some people.

If you haven't seen Bulworth, take it out and rent it.

Listen to the soothsayer.

Now is not the time to give up. Now is the time to fire up. Howard is done. His little turkey timer popped up any number of days ago, and we're all too busy to notice.

I've given Howard money. I've given him time. But now it's time to think about next steps. Anyone who thought a revolution in politics of the sort Dean was suggesting would be won in the first battle is naive.

The Dean campaign was our Easter Rising. It was glorious and hard fought and fitting subject for a song, but badly generalled and premature. But, if we play it right and don't just drop out, it will lay the ground work for a revolution in Democratic and United States politics.

We can take out govnerment back.

But we can't take it back on Internet time. The forces arrayed against us are just too powerful and well entrenched.

But if you give up now, then the entire Dean campaign will have been for nothing.

You've gotta be a spirit. Don't be no ghost.

When the homeless character who represents aspects of both the archtypical blind soothsayer and the chorus of classical theatre tells Bulowrth this, he is speaking not just to Bulworth but to the audience.

Many came to Dean because they opposed the war. I want you to think about your American brothers and sisters who are right now on the ground in Iraq. Are they all Republicans? Do they agree with Wolfowitz and his crowd? Or were they just in the for the education benefits, and a chance to "service their country."

However they found themselves there, they are putting their lives on the line for what they committed to.

Unless the Dean camp is prepared to learn something from their behavoir, we can never hope to win the majority and take the country back. We need to stay on task, no matter how bad the situtation (bad media coverage) or how bad the officers (Dean, Trippi, etc. and their bad decisions of one sort or another) and stay on task.

The mission: take back our country.

It won't happen in a day, or a week, or a month. And it won't happen if you say "ah, the hell with it" and prove every shallow sterotype of the Gen X and Y slacker true.

It will only happen if you stay in the game, stay with a candidate (and the eventual nominee); stay in the party; stay connected to MoveOn.org and other organizations in this movement.

In the Sixties, people used to talk about The Movement. There is a Movement in this country right now. It's Dean and Kucinich and MoveOn.org and Bartcop and DU and Democrats.com. It's bigger than one person or one election.

And it can only succeed if you pick youself up, dust yourself off, and get back in the fight.

You've gotta be a spirit. Don't be no ghost.

20. Kucinich all the way!
Dennis will bring the troops from Iraq, not leaving them there during an Iraqi-version of Vietnamization.

Dennis wants to repeal PATRIOT Act, not sugar coat it by modifiying its more onerous provisions.

Dennis will do away with NAFTA, not continue to sell us this globalization nonsense which is nothing more than a new version of slavery.

Dennis will never be part of a coronation.

If Dean drops out right after Wisconsin, he'll still be on all the Super Tuesday ballots. I'm not going to vote for someone else just because people in the early primaries tell me to.

40. Well, SCOTUS passed through advise and consent
and the Democratic nominee won't. Is that the difference you were looking for?

Trickle down democracy is no better than trickle down economics.

While ambitious well-connected people are always going to be running for office, we can't be satisfied with only getting to comment on the issues the elite bring to us. That has got to change.

34. Thanks to that "purge" post
I now know where I fit in with Kerry as the nominee. I'm taking some time off until December when I will once again assemble the debris and ashes of another failed democratic campaign and try to encourage the party apparatus in DC to try to think of itself as something besides the minority party which it seems to cherish so.

We populists plan to be the last men/women standing. We will have two years to take our country back.
