Clinton Hints Obama Will Out Fundraise Her, Downplays Importance...More in Interview with Salon
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2007/06/18/hillary_interview/

Hillary's hard-won experience
In an interview with Salon, the candidate discusses the "vast right-wing conspiracy," being called by her first name, and how long U.S. troops would be in Iraq if she wins in 2008.

By Walter Shapiro

Jun. 18, 2007 | Hillary Clinton was interviewed over the telephone by Salon last Thursday afternoon before she flew to New Hampshire.

The first time I interviewed you was in the governor's mansion in Little Rock in 1992. So I was tempted to ask: Anything happen in your life since then?

Oh, I don't know. What's new with you?

You were quoted the other day when asked about Barack Obama's fundraising numbers and you said that if he out-raised you in the second quarter, "It would mean nothing to my campaign." What did you mean by that? Are you saying that we in the press place too much importance on fundraising numbers?

Well, I'm afraid you might . Because the real challenge is whether you have a strategy you're pursuing and the resources to implement your strategy. When I ran in 2000, I was outraised and outspent by nearly 2-to-1 by both of my opponents. It never bothered me for a moment because my concern was making sure that I had the resources -- which I did -- to run my campaign as I expected it to run.

And that's how I feel about this. We've done very well. We will continue to do very well. But I keep focused on what I'm doing. I have no control over what anybody else does. And it has served me well -- and I think it will serve me well in this campaign. And it will serve me well when I'm president.

Howard Dean raised a ton of cash too ... and got creamed. In the end votes count for more.

4. Tweety said some campaigns are floating mammoth numbers for Obama in the hopes.....

...that when his actual amount comes in ------ instead of being "wowed" by it, people will think that it fell short of the figure they put out there..

Then again.. Tweety says a lot of stuff..

6. That's what happened with Clinton
in the last quarter. People were expecting her to blow everyone else away, and when it didn't happen people were a bit shocked. It's Obama's turn now I suppose.

Geez, she shattered the all time record in fundraising according to the Washington Post:

Clinton Shatters Record for Fundraising
Edwards Also Passes 1st-Quarter Benchmark

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) raised $26 million in the first quarter of the year, almost three times as much as any politician has previously raised at this point in a presidential election, officials with her campaign announced yesterday.

I thought the shocker in the MSM was that a couple days later, Senator Obama's numbers turned out to be so impressive, and so close to Clinton's..

I dunno.. maybe we watched different media coverage?

We can agree on one thing though.. Both Clinton and Obama did GREAT!

5. I wish she would have elaborated on what things she would draw the line on.
That would be helpful to know.

12. Hillary hasn't announced
At least, that's what I understand. She's still got her exploratory committee going and hasn't made her official announcement. Can someone clear that up?
