This is one of my pet peeves on DU: Someone makes a thread about a candidate, say Edwards. Then a poster says, "He's not bad. I'd go for a X/Edwards ticket!" Usually that X is Al Gore, but that's beside the point.

The point is that the thread often turns into an inane bout of name-dropping two candidates with a "/" between their names.

It doesn't amount to much intellectually. It's also often an insult to the original candidate in question (e.g. by saying Obama/Clark, you're essentially saying that Clark is below Obama in a subtle, inoffensive way that doesn't force you to give reasons).

And pimp-my-candidate threads are illuminating scholastic marvels if they DON'T get jacked?

8. I'll bet no.
 I've been unable to change the behavior of all DUers when it comes to Hillary bashing, Democrat bashing, Olive Garden bashing, Steely Dan pimping, the use of male body parts to symbolize courage, slurs against southerners or rural Americans, more consistent use of punctuation in a way that makes a post comprehensible, and the constant misuse of the words "comprise, (when compose is usually meant)" "nauseous (rather than nauseated)," and "disingenuous (short of hypnosis or short term memory loss, it is not possible for a person to not know they are being disingenuous--look it up)."

Damned DUers seem to have wills of their own.

But I like your suggestion. I do. Not as much as I like mine, but maybe... you see where I'm going. :)

9. Consider it a compliment to your candidate
Face it, we all have our favored candidates. If enough people find your candidate worthy of sharing a spot on the same ticket as their top candidate, you should be feeling pretty damned good about your choice.
