Why Obama's non vote means diddly squat except in the Primary Wars at DU
If you are a regular here at GD-P, you know who my girl is.

So what has transpired? The GOP pulled a procedural manuveur on the Democrats and won the day based on that. The vote itself was not in contest even if all the missing parties had voted as their party did.

Now maybe this has dampened tepid support for Obama amongst some of you and likely disappointed quite a few Obama supporters, I can understand that. I feel Obama is a good Senator and candidate to lead this nation irregardless of this vote.

And I know it is likely that DUers will use this as a bludgeon amidst battle with Obama supporters.

I won't comment whether that is "right" because I have said here many times that poltiics ain't tiddlywinks and if you bring it, you better be able to take it.

But the larger impact on the voting populace? Near zilch.

Most voters weren't even aware of this vote, let alone the procedure that blocked it and who voted which way. At best, you figure they were aware there was a vote on Gonzalez and it failed with the vote split largely along party lines. IOW, same shit, different day.

Obama will continue his impressive campaign and will be force throughout the year.

Obama voted against Gonzalez' confirmation like nearly everyone else and has been a consistent critic. His stance on Gonzo is clear.

7. Principle! Honor! Duty!
and DISIPLINE!
Every GD Dem should have been there, with the 7 Replicans!
Like HRC, Obama is a DLCer, but at least HRC voted.
And I won't forgive either one of them for voting NO on war funding after it was safe to do so!

8. You forget Obama's 'big brother' is Durbin, 2nd in leadership of the Dems.
honestly, Durbin probably told him to stay in california. You don't think these two don't talk all the time. They are very close.
