The Kerry scandel thing is 10 oclock news in Milwaukee
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 10:52 PM by HereSince1628
The local news is hyping the story as a growing problem that in a heated primary has many people pushing it; so it will probably be impossible to have go away.

Whether Milwaukee area residents think that is really true I couldn't say.

But, there is some background people might not know...Milwaukee is about to have a mayoral election, the old mayor had a sex scandel with a city employee. He survived being guilty as charged...more or less. His wife is a lawyer named Mudd she was pregnant at the time his scandel broke and she supported him. Even so it was in many ways another one of those stories about sex and the powerful. Some folks were mad but many folks in the area were simply very very disappointed.

I am not exactly sure what this all means for Kerry in the Milwaukee area. Maybe nothing. But the Milwaukee metro area is the population center of the state. If this part of the state is uninfluenced its no big deal, on the otherhand, well its the otherhand that we'll have to wait to see if it has anything in it.

5. I know it gonna be on fox I think I heard a setup for abc as well
I could be wrong about abc. I wish I could be more accurate about that. I am aware of it only because I can here the tube from where I am sitting.

2. A couple of questions for you...
How are they presenting it? Is it a rehash of what Drudge put up on his trash site or they offering anything of substance?

What is the political nature of this station? ABC? CBS? NBC? Fox?

6. For sure one is a fox station
I can't yet tell you how exactly they will do the story. Their trailer seemed to indicate it was a growing scandel that probably won't go away. I've been out all day so I don't know if that mirrors Drudge or is spun even worse. We are minutes away from an answer to that question.

7. I am trying to just report what is happening in the major tv market
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 11:08 PM by HereSince1628
for the upcoming primary.

The fox station has basically run on Drudge.
The nbc station made mention of the scandel being linked to an "internet site" which didn't name Drudge but gave no evidence of credibility.

on edit:
The abc story on the primary emphasized poll results and Clark's endorsement. The "scandel" didn't get any coverage...

8. It will only stop when we stop enabling them
and challenge them. Folks stop spreading the lies and challenge them on them... every time

After all where are our priorities as a nation? We care for the sex life of DEMOCRATS, but don't give a damn when a President sends our kids to die over there, on a pack of lies?

Challenge it RIGHT NOW... or it will never stop

12. I think this could be a BIG problem
A lot of people think Clinton's affairs cost Democrats the election. What we DON'T need is to have this albatross issue hanging around our necks for this election. Not while we have a chance to start anew. What I want to know is why wasn't this made known by Kerry before? Better to trickle out the story on your own terms early than have someone else do it for you late.

CNN was only the beginning of the serious discussion about it. They handled it pretty well though--made no judgments.

22. Letterman
Just told a joke about the Intern scandal. Said Hillary was going to stand by him (Kerry).

Must have finally broken into the media, they just couldn't hold it back any longer. We've been talking about it for what, three days now?

So, Kerry supporters don't like the same feeling we Dean, and Clark supporters have been getting as the media trashes our candidates???

20. Hi, I live many years right off of 595 and Pine Island Rd
I miss your part of the country. I was involved in theater there and I had many friends all over Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties. How's the weather?

BTW, what station reported this story about Kerry?

25. 80s today
as for the weather.

Live near University and Oakland Park myself, though work up near Glades in Palm Beach.

I was in the other room--but I believe the voice was from our local Fox affiliate (i.e. if it bleeds it leads)

BTW-- Rick Sanchez, for all you who might remember his *brief* stint on MSNBC is now back on the NBC affiliate (as opposed to Fox--where they loathed him, I have on good information) w/ his own morning show. Makes cable access look like the heighth of TV production...

26. CNN reporting of Kerry Scandal
This is my first time posting. I usually just lurk. I sent CNN a message complaining about Aaron Brown's Show tonight. I mentioned that I thought the Kerry smear was a Rove plant. They emailed me back to say the story was planted by a Democrat. Who do you guys think is responsible?

I think if we keep this up we won't win in November
Politics is a dirty business but Kerry is going to get this nomination. Personally I was a Clark supporter but I've always been of the mind ABB. If one of the other candidates camp did this it is shameful. America can't stand another four years of Bush.

Dean before him?

Just wondering whatyour rationale is here.

...just mentioned it. Said something to the effect that "John Kerry might be involved with an intern, and out of habit, Bill Clinton denied it." Or something like that. Got a laugh from the audience.
