Hardball: rumored Gore urging Dean to get out.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:37 PM by Bleachers7
David Schuster on Hardball said that Gore is urging Dean to get out if he doesn't turn it around soon. He also said there is a lot of pressure on Dean right now.

7. Not what was said -- taken out of context.
It was rumored that there was pressure from Gore. They didn't say Gore *IS* pessuring him, only that there is a rumor that he is.

Dean is gone after WI. But what exactly is Edwards reason for continuing, assuming those poll numbers stay pretty steady?

On the same program there was some discussion that Edwards might also be on the receiving end of some pressure to drop out.

32. Edwards has to stay in...
to keep his name out there, since he won't be holding any office for four years if Kerry loses.

..and he wants to run in 2008.

He also has to go through all 50 primaries to get an organization in place everywhere so he can make a run in 2008 to save us from a Hillary debacle.

There's absolutely no reason for Edwards to get out, no matter how much pressure he has, as long as he has enough money to continue.

Also... he's the relief pitcher if Kerry implodes... due to scandal, health problems, whatever.

You gotta have that guy in the bullpen.....

29. Well I guess they should just all drop out then and concede to Kerry
Why not? I mean, a whopping 12 states have had their primaries now - "the people" have spoken.

Interesting quote, re: Kerry's poll numbers in Wisconson:
Of Wisconsin voters who said they were likely to vote for him, two-thirds said they decided to do so in the weeks since Iowa.

18. Well, then. Gore can bite me.
Look, thanks for his endorsement (regardless of the fact that it didn't seem to pan out in terms of votes) but he can go piss up a stick if he thinks Dean will leave now.

Dean has enough delegates (yes, I know, superdelegates) to be a contender here, especially as candidates drop out. To advise him to leave the race is just offensive.

I'm with him until he either dies or withdraws. It's a shame that some of his other supporters are willing to compromise on their beliefs.

Gore gave a typical endorsement speech. I find it funny that people read so much into it.

41. My candidate is campaigning for our nominee and other Democrats
Instead of desperately attacking them while issuing Oral Roberts style fund raising letters squeezing the last bit of blood for a hopeless display of vanity.

Guess we see things differently.

38. Amen to that
I really used to like Gore and respected him but when he endorced Dean with that "get in line" crap I lost it as far as he was concerned. Now he's bailing on Dean. I wonder how the Dean supporters feel now. It was all about Gore when Gore endorced Dean. Now what are they thinking?

I'm with Dean all the way until the end. If he decides to run for another office as well he has my support. If he doesn't get the nomination this time around, hopefully he'll try again in the future.

Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 10:33 PM by sleipnir
DNC is the Party, the DLC is the evil organization that selects candidates for us and we must all be pleased with their choices or else we are told to go suck an egg.

Note: Gore is no longer the darling boy of the DLC, most there dislike him now. He couldn't serve them, so they dropped him out on his ass.
