The report Pat Roberts tried to hide. "Iraq problems were expected"
Edited on Sun May-27-07 09:32 AM by Botany
Warned of the looting, civil strife, the impossibility of an outside force
governing Iraq, the loss of electricity, Iran & al Qaeda gaining power as
a result of our invasion, and all that other "stuff" George W Bush went ahead
with his war.

So class let's review; The war in and occupation of Iraq was a mistake based
on lies and the liars were told of all the "blow back" from starting that war.

Report says Iraq problems were expected
By Associated Press
Saturday, May 26, 2007 - Updated: 03:05 PM EST

WASHINGTON - Intelligence analysts predicted, in secret papers circulated within the government before the Iraq
invasion, that al-Qaida would see U.S. military action as an opportunity to increase its operations and that Iran would
try to shape a post-Saddam Iraq.

The top analysts in government also said that establishing a stable democracy in Iraq would be a "long, difficult and
probably turbulent process."

Democrats said the newly declassified documents, part of a Senate Intelligence Committee investigation released
Friday, make clear that the Bush administration was warned about the very challenges it now faces as it tries to stabilize Iraq.

"Sadly, the administration’s refusal to heed these dire warnings _ and worse, to plan for them _ has led to tragic
consequences for which our nation is paying a terrible price," said Senate Intelligence Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va.

3. Sadly this will get NO play in the media .... or very little.
Just like 90,000 voters in Florida kicked off the rolls prior to the
2000 election. So the neo cons lied us into an unneeded war and
new about the "problems" that would come about and still went
right ahead. Along w/ stealing oil, making billions of the war, and
stealing another presidential election ..... "LIBERAL MEDIA"

2. "Iraq Problems" eh? I can think of a better term
like total chaos perhaps? Remember way back in 2002 here on DU the term Pandora's box was used a lot regarding an invasion. How did we know that and our representatives did not?

4. In Feb. of 2003 Joe Wilson said on NPR
"There is 105 different factions in Iraq. Sure we can be in Baghdad
pretty fast but that is when our problems will start." Very rough quote.

Remember the neo-cons sold the link between Iraq and 9/11 big time.
And what Congressperson did not want to show how much he/she wanted
to give the terrorists some "payback?"

5. Did it ever occur to people that this is exactly what Bush/Cheney wanted?
They saw the intelligence and were pleased? Because they wanted the chaos? They wanted a prolonged quagmire that enabled them to expand on the unitary executive? They wanted America's attention directed away from all the power grabbing they were doing? Is it so hard to believe that Bush/Cheney Inc didn't give a damn about who dies? That they callously wanted everything that is happening to happen? Because it afforded them the best cover for their other crimes? It played right into their plans anyway?

Nothing happening in Iraq has stopped defense contractors from making money or other businesses in Iraq from making money.

8. Although I think the neo cons did not expect all this blow back
But in good news W's uncle "Bucky" Bush has made millions off this
war. The whole lot of them should be in jail for their crimes.

9. They didn't expect all of it , no - but the intelligence reports weren't
exactly bad news to them

Look how easy they justify being in Iraq by claiming "the terrorists made it the front on the war on terror" - I don't believe that was ad hoc - especially since we now know they knew it was coming from the intelligence just released

If they saw the intelligence, and everything suggest they did - then they knew prior to invading what to expect. It's too easy on them to just say they ignored it - that makes them incompetent and I don't buy that argument at all...they used it as cover for everything else they were doing.

If you compare Bush and Cheney to what you expect from a President and VP, then yes, they are incompetent - but you if accept they never ever, not once, wanted to govern, then they weren't incompetent - it was never about governing with them - it was about control and using the office to advance their own agenda.

They had a - we'll deal with it (the intelligence) by using it to our advantage attitude - in my opinion.

10. They were either greedy evil manipulators and or stupid.
And both traits are not "things" we want in our leadership.

I see more of Dick Cheney's work in our involvement in Iraq ....
with Saudi Arabia's oil in decline and data that Iraq might be
the most oil rich country in the world of proven reserves he
must have had an erection for that Iraqi oil since the 1980s.

I would love to make him drink a gallon or so of that Iraqi oil.
