To all the San Franciscans going down to the sea to make salt today
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 03:13 PM by DuctapeFatwa
And to Mayor Newsom who led them, THANK YOU! for all you are doing to give hope to the hopeless, and for standing up for the rights of every single person in the US, straight, gay, independent, undecided.

May your courage spread like wildfire, and may you live long and happy lives together.

This is history, and it could be the catalyst for bringing some other things to a head, at last.

And as if all that weren't enough, my psychic powers tell me that some kids who didn't have much hope for a future will be getting some parents that they can be very proud of. :)

edit: I posted this in here on purpose, as someone will surely mention a candidate or candidates.

1. We need more Newsomes
I wish we had more candidates in the race who were supportive of marriage for ALL citizens instead of just the majority. I can't believe Mayor Newsome has been more brave than most of our candidates--most of whom (including the candidate I supported) are happier to parse words and terminologies (i.e., "civil unions" vs. "marriage" or figuring out ways unequal rights could still be equal protection) than they are to stand up for what is right.

We MUST insist that our party's nominee not support a constitutional amendment under any circumstance. He doesn't have to support marriage--although that would be preferable--but he cannot think any language is appropriate to proscribe marriage in the constitution.

3. I'm going sometime this spring to get married
My mom and step-dad want to be there and my step-mom. Step-ma and Step-pa didn't make it to the first wedding. So we're gonna make sure they can be there this time.

PLUS Angela Alioto is going to marry us!!

7. I'm sure they will.
But I've always dreamed of getting married in SF City Hall.

2. Amazing how many people were trashing Newsome during the election.

If you had used DU as your source of information, you would have thought this guy was a closet Republican.

4. Give it time,
Considering the general tone in here, they'll be here soon.

5. as gandhi says.....
if all the people choose to misbehave, there is really very little that THEY can do about it....

and then further he notes

First they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they fight you,
then you win.

I think we're into the fighten' scrappin' part of this. Means we are on the way to winning.

Power to people.

Kerry. Kucinch. both candidates. One is tall, the other is really economically astute.
