We saw a big AAR sign and were looking around for her, and then WolverineDG motioned me over, and there she was! It was really cool meeting her in person.

12. So, two uannounced candidates are going against all precedent...
and will run as a Prez/VP ticket in the primaries?

Or, Gore, still unannounced, will announce, win, and pick Clark as his VP?

Okey dokey.

13. Gore/Clark ... that would be a dream come true!
On one ticket, there would be intelligence, compassion, logic, rationality, vision, experience in government, experience in foreign policy, military leadership experience, an Oscar, an Emmy, two best-selling authors, a former Congressman, a former Senator, a former Vice-President, an environmental guru, a West Point graduate, a Harvard graduate, a Rhodes Scholar, a retired four-star general, a genuine military hero, a former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, a State Department Distinguished Service Award; the US Department of Defense Distinguished Service Medal (five awards), The US Army Distinguished Service Medal (two awards), The Silver Star, the Bronze Star (two awards), the Purple Heart, and Honorary Knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments, and possibly a Nobel Peace Prize.

All bases are covered. :P :patriot:

(It's amazing, but that list is actually incomplete. Those two men have accomplished MANY other things that aren't mentioned.)

36. Damn, I knew we could count on you! Why don't you take that wet
towel and shove it in your mouth. Why don't you get some books and read up on their accomplishments and stop looking/posting only the negative? If you must post on a positive Clark thread...say something pertinent and informative...not just derogatory comments EVERY TIME Clark's name comes up. We all know what you think...we're heard it for years now. Why don't you say some positive things about your candidate and convince us why he/she is better. Then maybe I could listen to you. Now I can't hear you for I've got your wet towel stuffed in my ear. Grow up! Too late we get schmart!

than Sharpton since Clark beat Edwards in five of the nine races in which they both competed.

Oh - and Al Gore won.

26. I'm not sure about that.
I do wonder if Wes thinks that Al Gore is definitely going to get into the race, and that could be the reason he hasn't entered himself.

As far as running mates for Gore, I like a Gore/Obama ticket, though I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a Gore/Clark ticket. It may be that Wes envisions himself in a very different role. I never got the impression last time around that he was that interested in being VP (though I think we would have won with him as Kerry's running mate).

39. I want Gore/ anyone who is not currently running
I think this time around Clark is more concerned about where our country is going, and wouldn't have a problem being on a ticket with Gore. Keep in mind that being VP in a Gore presidency is probably his best path to eventually becoming President. I don't see him getting far on his own.

31. I am frightened by all these Gore threads.
Damn straight I respect the guy, he shoulda been President in 2000 and most likely would have been in 2004 as well.

But have you been reading all the stuff around here?
We are expecting ONE MAN (albeit a good, moral, dedicated and passionate one) to 'rescue' us from a really nasty, complex situation.

Ain't gonna happen unless he's got BACKUP, my siblings...and I don't mean just the DU crowd, but the little anonymous people who sit in their air-conditioned offices on Capitol Hill, and make hidden decisions that all of a sudden add up to "Screwn if you ain't Republican/Neocon".

He's ONE MAN. He's a good man, but he needs the machinery to make the whole thing work and bring the country out of this cesspit we are now mired in.

I'm not dissing Gore, far from it. Just don't think it's fair to hand him a broken country, then sit back and expect him to fix it...even if he would have had the sense not to break the damn thing in the first place.

34. Well, if anyone knows life isn't always fair, it's Gore.
One of the many reasons I avidly want Gore to run is because of his political savvy -- he knows how the system works. In Al Gore we have not only integrity, vision, and intelligence, but an understanding of the nuts and bolts of how D.C. works. I'm thinking of Jimmy Carter here -- integrity, vision, and intelligence, but the politics in D.C. chewed him right up, because he couldn't or wouldn't play the game. Think back on great presidents like FDR and Lincoln: they were both very wily politicians who were able to get the system to work for them. I know we've got some great candidates out there; I love Obama and Edwards, but I see them getting buried in the quagmire just as Carter did. And Clinton may be as wily as we'd need, but she doesn't have Gore's integrity and vision. He's the only one, IMO, who's got everything needed to figure out how to turn this ship with a broken helm away from the shoals.

40. Thank you
It isn't fair but that is exactly what those living in Fantasyland think. He will swoop down on his charger and all will be well again because by God it's his DUTY to clean up a mess he didn't make. It isn't going to happen that way, and even he stated in his interview with Charlie Rose Thursday that just putting one candidate in isn't going to stop what is wrong with this country. I think he knows how deep this goes and what he needs to do and how he wants to do it. Unfortunately, these threads only serve to disappoint in regards to helping him do that as they play right into the topic of his book regarding gossip, soundbites, and media hype.

Clark on board is a winner! Without Clark and his Military and negotiating experience, the ticket becomes venerable to Republican's saying we are weak on defense and opens up a good chance of a Republican win...perish the thought!
