Newly elected Nancy Boyda (D-Kansas) to vote YES on Iraq funding.
Edited on Thu May-24-07 11:16 AM by kansasblue
Congresswoman Nancy Boyda represents the Kansas Second Congressional District, which includes Topeka, Leavenworth, Manhattan, and most of northeast and southeast Kansas.

Her Topeka office says she'll vote YES on funding.

On November 7, 2006, she defeated the incumbent representative, Republican Jim Ryun, 51% to 47%. She had campaigned on creating jobs, health care, and public education. Ryun had previously held the seat for five terms.

2. Yeah tell me something I don't know
She's in a tough spot, she's from Kansas. If she votes againist the bill means she dosen't support the troops meaning she will get crucified in '08 I understand.

4. Yes, better to keep your job in 2008 than to take a MORAL stand ... truth may be she will now LOSE
her job to her next Democratic Primary Challenger. If she follows through with voting for this immoral bill, I hope she loses her seat. No slack for gutless wonders who are more concerned with keeping their seats than doing The Right Thing for The American Taxpayer.

6. Yeah good luck finding a primary challenger
IT'S KANSAS for god sakes, there's no one good that can challenger her and win, you know that. And i'm not a one issue man shortnfiery I won't just turn on her because of this vote. Through this whole Congress Nancy has held her ground with the leadership, even went as far as voting for the stem cell bill earlier in the year.

8. Great, I bet you would be "a one issue man" if it was YOUR son off to Iraq-nam this summer?
No doubt. We're talking about SENSELESS DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. In my opinion that's one big a**ed ISSUE which this representative is failing the test.

All these legislators with "feet of clay" deserve to lose their seats. Yes, this is ALL-IMPORTANT. :grr:

7. hmmm...
so if she's damned no matter which way she votes wouldn't that make deciding factor her conscience?

In my book that would clearly demonstrate if she is worthy of office or is just another lying scumbag politician.

10. Between a rock and a hard place......GOP target Boyda in 08
Edited on Thu May-24-07 11:32 AM by kansasblue
"signals the seats that Republicans are targeting in 2008. But it also marks an ambitious decision by the campaign committee to go after the speaker in an effort to unseat her most vulnerable members...."

***

The targets include Reps. Nancy Boyda of Kansas

11. Keep in mind that Boyda
started out as a Republican, and it's understood that she changed her party affiliation and moved to the Second district because she wanted to run for Congress and calculated that she could not challenge Dennis Moore as a Republican in the Third, and would not beat Ryun in a Republican primary in the Second.

It is to her credit that she won her second race by doing it her way, ignoring the Democratic Leadership that told her how to run her first race, despite her own misgivings. But I do agree with those who wonder about her real commitment to her voters.

Of course, next time I see Dennis Moore (I'm in the Third myself) I'll ask him how many more Americans must die in Iraq before he'll finally decide it's time to get out. Just give us a sense of the number you have in mind.

15. Well, I'll never vote for her again!!!
I've sent a message to her to inform her of that.

It's better to have pro-war Republicans in office than pro-war Democrats in office. At least that way we aren't the ones being disgraced. And then we have some chance of taking back our own party.

20. nominated for most irrational post of the day
unless, of course, I missed the sarcasm smilie.

Seeing none, I will just shake my head and laugh at the idea that it would be better to replace Boyd, who voted for the bill to set a troop withdrawal deadline and for the non-binding resolution opposing the surge, with repubs who opposed both of those measures.
