Democratic Front-Runner Kerry Says He's Ready for GOP Onslaught, Plans to Fight Back

The Associated Press

Feb. 13 — Front-runner John Kerry said Friday he is prepared for an onslaught of criticism from the Republican Party and is ready to fight back as he moves closer to the Democratic nomination for president.

"We've seen evidence. We know exactly where these guys are gonna go, and I'm ready for it," Kerry told radio broadcaster Don Imus. "I've been at this for a while, Don, and I've been through some tough races. I've been pretty well, you know, vetted and examined from one side to the other. And I think that they're in for a surprise. I'm going to fight back. I am a fighter, and I'm ready to fight back."

In Nevada, which holds caucuses Saturday, GOP Chairman Ed Gillespie told Republicans Thursday night that Democrats were preparing to run "the dirtiest campaign in modern presidential politics."

"This is because they don't want a debate on the issues, and they don't want to run on Senator Kerry's record," Gillespie said in prepared remarks. "I guess I can't blame them for that."

1. I just posted this, too
I'm glad to see it. Does anyone else find it laughable that Gillespie accuses the Dems of fighting dirty?

2. It's a matter of perspective
If you live in filth, you consider that to be "clean" after a while. Gillespie lives in the sewer, so anything seems "dirty" to him.

3. the thing a lot of people are forgetting
Is that Kerry is just as skilled as escaping from a bad situation as Bill Clinton was.

Kerry knows how to defend himself and the GOP is delusional if they think they're going to dig up something on him that's going to mortally wound him.

5. I hope Ed is right...
But I just doubt if we will ever sink low enough to arrive at HIS level! I just hope Kerry really takes them into the trenches and grinds their faces in the mud! I'm sick of losing elections because we are so high-minded. I am also sick of the republicans setting the agenda as they are now successfully doing with the gay marriage issue. I sure hope John Kerrey has a plan for that!!!!

6. Ed Gillespie
is a drunk. Look at him when he's on TV. His hair's all out of place, he seems to be perspiring, and his eyes are all glassy like he's had a bottle of Jack before coming on air.
