Kerry could benefit from his own advice.
Kerry had assessed/advised President Clinton during the Monica-gate. He may benefit from his own wisdom.

I hope he comes clean and not take us down this road again. I hope if he is guilty of infidelity that he will do the right thing while we have an opportunity to recover.

Either way, innocent or guilty, we need to regain confidence and fast if we are to have him the nominee.

<snip>

A key senator suggested on the Sunday talk shows that Clinton immediately volunteer to testify to the House Judiciary Committee and answer all questions fully to spare the country further embarrassment.

"I believe the president would be well-served to explain exactly what he did, exactly what he was thinking, do it to the Judiciary Committee and let's vote and let's move on one way or the other," said Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), a Clinton ally.

"The nation is being ill served by this political water torture that is taking place in a highly calculated, highly partisan way," Kerry told NBC regarding Congress' selected release of evidence.

Kerry's call for voluntary Clinton testimony was embraced by several colleagues, including Republican Sen. John Ashcroft, a presidential aspirant and harsh Clinton critic, and House Judiciary Committee members Barney Frank (D-Mass), and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)

1. He already denied it.
If he did it, he won't admit to it.

It's gonna be all or nothing.

Goddammit.

2. C'mon guys!
Do you believe everything Rove puts out. As the pilot said to Indy Jones at the beginning of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, "show a little backbone."

5. It's out there and it must be delt with quickly.
It is and will be a constant distraction until he and his wife address this publicly. I sense the girl or girls in hidding may come out like the Clinton girls did......Geeze, I hate this......

We have such tremendous momentum right now.

8. I think Kerry is a man of many talents ...
but stud is NOT one of them.

I don't really think this is a big deal - only Drudge, freepers and some people on this board think it is.

3. I agree
Take the issue out of play. Folks dont really care about an affair, only honesty. Especially in the wake of bush's questionable record with that value.

6. Coming clean
Those of you asking Kerry to come clean seem to assume that the allegations are true, as it seems that Kerry denying it won't suit you. Only if he admits it, can he be 'coming clean'.

I don't say he didn't, just that you're assuming he did.

Should he admit to it even if he didn't?

7. Kerry's coming clean won't help; he's checkmated.
If he admits to an affair and comes clean, he'll trigger the "Oh no,
another Clinton wannabee who'll bring us scandal after scandal"
reaction and Democrats will run screaming from his candidacy. They
understand now just how inefective and emasculated a Democratic
President would be under constant pressure from the Republican
Smear Machine.

If he denies the affair, the Vast Republican Smear Machine will simply
keep bringing THIS ONE up again and again, aiming towards a grand climax
somewhere around Monday, Novermber 1st, 2004.

Kerry is toast, either now or on Election Day (and the Democrats still
get to choose which of those two options they'd prefer).

11. I disagree
If he comes clean now, he will take the issue off the table. Any smear attempt in Sept. & Oct. will look like rehashing the past.

12. No, i dont assume he did
Im just pointing out that if it is true, dont deny it. It doesnt work.

If it isnt true, he should be holding press conferences every 15 minutes, or whenever drudge updates the story.

Dont run from it either way. And Im surprised that so many here are so quick to label this as a smear campaign, therefore untrue. Dont forget that drudge broke the lewinsky story.

10. He won't do it
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 10:21 AM by CWebster
His ego won't allow it. It is the same ego that can't own up to the IWR vote and the same ego which constanly struts Viet Nam. This pursuit of young women is just more of the aging male syndrome.
