For those who think MA will vote Democratic independently of the nominee, here is
a nice wake up call. A Survey USA shows that, with Guliani as the Republican nominee, only Hillary has a clear lead.

I have a lot of reservation concerning polls at this point, but this is an answer to some of you who say that us New England liberal democrats do not matter because we will always vote Democratic, so the only possible choice is a southern man. It is not that the Southern man cannot win, it is that the NE matters as well.

If there were an election for president of the United States today, and the only two names on the ballot were (the following) who would you vote for?

Rudy Giuliani (R) 40% - 52% Hillary Rodham Clinton (D)
Rudy Giuliani (R) 45% - 46% John Edwards (D)
Rudy Giuliani (R) 48% - 41% Barack Obama (D)

Source: SurveyUSA / WBZ-TV
Methodology: Telephone interviews with 553, 551 and 551 registered Massachusetts voters, conducted from Apr. 13 to Apr. 15, 2007. Margins of error are 4.2 and 4.3 per cent.

1. I don't buy it
I mean we should be careful and all that, but these days the letter R has too much stigma attached.
(I do live in a Boston suburb.)

4. Probably more like name recognition at this point.
This said, may be people should stop taking the NE as granted and tell us it only matters if the nominee appeals to the South.

After all, we had a long streak of Republican Governaors, so people sometimes vote Republican.

2. That Poll is Absurd
As a native NYC resident living in MA, there's no way that Giuliani will play well in my adopted state. Giuliani is an abrasive fascist. Once people see that - and it's hard to miss - Il Douche will be toast.

3. I'm sure that Carter thought the same thing against Reagan!
And O'Brien against Romney.

This said, I did not post that to promote Hillary, far from it. I did it because so many people here take MA as granted.
