7. So what DID the White House want Powell to say at the UN?
That bit stuck out like a sore thumb.

9. I'm not sure what it was, but I know he didn't like it. Check out this report from back then...
...from the Guardian:

Powell's doubts over CIA intelligence on Iraq prompted him to set up secret review

Specialists removed questionable evidence about weapons from draft of secretary of state's speech to UN

Suzanne Goldenberg in Washington and Richard Norton-Taylor
Monday June 2, 2003
The Guardian

Fresh evidence emerged last night that Colin Powell, the US secretary of state, was so disturbed about questionable American intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction that he assembled a secret team to review the information he was given before he made a crucial speech to the UN security council on February 5.

Mr Powell conducted a full-dress rehearsal of the speech on the eve of the session at his suite in the Waldorf Astoria, his New York base when he is on UN business, according to the authoritative US News and World Report.

Much of the initial information for Mr Powell's speech to the UN was provided by the Pentagon, where Paul Wolfowitz, the US deputy defence secretary, set up a special unit, the Office of Special Plans, to counter the uncertainty of the CIA's intelligence on Iraq.

Mr Powell's team removed dozens of pages of alleged evidence about Iraq's banned weapons and ties to terrorists from a draft of his speech, US News and World Report says today. At one point, he became so angry at the lack of adequate sourcing to intelligence claims that he declared: :hi:"I'm not reading this. This is bullshit," according to the magazine....

10. Now I remember.
Sometimes it takes a prod for my brain to recall. Powell's "bullshit" statement.

Well we know Powell knows, for what that is worth.

Saddam has a working nuclear bomb. I suppose that would be one possibility. Although the "mushroom cloud" ploy worked just as well.

Thanks.

Jon did well. Just the fact that he let Tenet leave knowing he hadn't duped anybody on the show.

11. I don't know, with the amount of effort the WH spin monsters are putting in to dispute what's...
...in his book...I bet it's all true.

Think about it. They lie about EVERYTHING! :banghead:

Why would they start telling the truth about this now?

12. Why is John Stewart giving this prick a platform?
This coward should be shunned for the part he has played in the unnecessary deaths of thousands human beings. He did not speak up to stop this fiasco.:dem:

14. No, he was just trying to make a real downer of a guest a little more interesting...
...and a bit FUNNY! :silly: The guy was like interviewing "Droopy Dog" or Ehor from Winnie the Pooh.

And besides, why are you (like most everyone else here) suddenly believing the WH BS?

With as hard as the WH is pushing to discredit Tenet, I bet what's in his book is accurate.

Also, read the June 2003 article I posted above from The Guardian and see if any of that rings a memory bell.
