College student arrested for threatening to kill Clinton, belonged to "Stop Hillary" Facebook group
Via The Newsblog comments page, friends of Richard Ryan Wargo have set up a Facebook page in his defense.

Commments there include:

* he is an idiot but definately not a terrorist

* say strong ryan, stay strong.....we believe and we r praying 4 u

* The patriot act needs to be revoked. We've given up our rights as Americans out of fear so now when some kid says some off kiltered comment the government has the right to by pass procedures and put him away.

* Dick was a member of a Hillary Hate Group.

Doesn't look good, hunh?

I'll give you all one last clear example of the difference between free speech and a threat:

1. "I'm going to kill so-and-so."
2. "So-and-so has some seriously screwed up policies."

Now, when the so-and-so in question is a former first lady, #1 is illegal. #2 is not.

4. Whats worse is the well known people encouraging the HATE!
That is the sickening part of it. They stand in the shadows and encourage surrogates to do their dirty work.

5. You nailed it. Among others, rightwing hate radio-show hosts encourage this shit everyday
One can only imagine what this kid learned from his parents or on the radio...or just as likely from his place of worship.

7. I wouldn't exactly call DUers "well known people"...
But if you want to see Hill-hating being encouraged, this is the place to go on the web.

34. I have never, ever seen a single threat against Hillary here on DU.
In fact, I suspect some are using this as an excuse to brand those who don't want her as the nominee as "haters" and worthy of Secret Service investigation.

23. I don't see Hillary-haters on DU -- at least overtly
Be fair about it.

I see plenty who don't want her to be the Democratic nominee. That's a big difference that shouldn't be lost on anyone here.

26. Thanks for posting that.
It's a HUGE difference in not wanting her to be the nominee and threatening her. I don't want her to be the nominee, but I'm fine with her as my senator.

It seems our "top 3" have now all been threatened - Edwards with the white powder, Hillary with this, and Obama, obviously, feeling a need to ask for SS protection. It says a lot about the freepers. They scare me.

2. Ideations, publicly stated, and the forming of a plan.
Simple criteria, really. By his own words, he made it clear to others that he was planning on being a danger to someone.

There are some things you just cannot do. That is one of them.

3. His friends aren't the brightest bulbs either, apparently, but they look like
rocket scientists compared to him.

Christ, it's insane--between this and threats to Obama, ya gotta wonder just what is WRONG with people? This guy apparently IS a fucking idiot, though:

http://ucsense.blogspot.com/2007/05/threat-to-kill-hillary-clinton.html

A Shreveport man was arrested for threatening to kill Sen. Hillary Clinton, who is scheduled to be in Baton Rouge to address the National Conference of Black Mayors.

Richard Ryan Wargo, 10301 Evangeline, Shreveport, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of terrorizing, communicating false information of planned arson, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State District Judge Mike Erwin set the $1 million bond Thursday.

<...>

The warrant says a classmate of Wargo’s told an LSU police officer the two students were talking when Wargo made the threat.

Wargo told the other student that he was interested in committing an act of terrorism, and that it would be a "national event," the warrant says. He asked if the other student was interested in participating, the warrant says.

When asked if the act of terrorism was politically motivated, Wargo nodded his head, and said, “Hillary Clinton,” the warrant says.........

The threat was that close. Wonder when Skinner is going to put a stop to the Haters here posting the Iran-Contra nonsense blaming the Clintons for Bush Crimes?

I get barraged by posts saying it's not hate, it's only disagreement. Well you know what? your all full of shit. It's unadulterated hate plain and simple. You all are just not man or woman enough to admit you hate something, because liberals don't hate. Yea right. :eyes:

Like blind sycophants,Republicans (but wait..I repeat myself).Hillary hasn't worked up to my hate level yet,but I figure with her deft touch by next summer she'll have reached the summit, where she can plant a flag and claim my hate as her own.

36. So where's your evidence?
Please show me all the threads showing hatred for Senator Clinton. If DUers really hate her that much, surely it won't be hard to find.

Back to reality for a second...

What's really going on is that a small but vocal contingent of Hillary Clinton supporters are portraying anyone remotely critical of her or her policies to be full of "hate" and using a threatening incident against her as some kind of "proof" that DUers critical of Hillary Clinton are contributing to an atmosphere of "hate". :eyes:

Most of us see this for the total crock of shit that it is.

35. You might as well come out and say it.
You're accusing DUers of being hateful and/or threatening towards Senator Clinton. In fact, your description sounds specifically like one particular DUer.

That's a weighty charge - I hope you can back it up.

One thing about Hillary, she's been there, done that with just about anything they can try on her, so any threat will be taken seriously.

There's even a pile of hate in the corner that I haven't picked up since I dropped it there during the Reagan years. If anyone needs their hate organized it's me.

And it better pay well too!

37. Bullshit. You have no evidence whatsoever.
Here's HillaryWorld:

If someone posts about her high disapproval numbers, it's "hate".

If someone is critical of her IWR vote, it's "hate".

If someone criticizes her initial 2001 vote for MBNA, it's "hate".

If someone mentions a really stupid comment that she made, it's "hate".

Most people here can tell the difference between legitimate criticism and outright irrational hatred.

Unfortunately, the ones who can't tell the difference seem to be supporting...Hillary Clinton.

31. RE: Facebook and Screwed up policies
If you have an account, check out the "Blacks against Obama" group.

They supposedly hate him because he's "pro-abortion" and he's a damn socialist who's going to take all our freedom away, or something like that.

Now, last I checked, it only had 33 members, and it looked like 1/2 of them were white, but whatever.

33. Isn't Hannity promoting himself as the "Stop Hillary Express"??
I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

I mean, I'm sure Sean would be devastated if some whack-job that listen to his oral masturbation 3 hours a day would act to stop the evil that is Hillary, wouldn't he?

Just like I'm sure Rush is devastated that 95% of his listeners think that Barrack the Magic Negro is a Minstrel parody worthy of Amos and Andy fame. The other 5% probably think Rush didn't go far enough.
