2. Clark should remain in the national picture. He and his family are a
reminder of what is good about America.

3. I can't figure out
what's going on with the "VP race", so I'm still undecided about Clark. However, I thought this thread was a bit more pleasant than a lot of the sludge that is slowly dropping down the board. My only problem with Clark is that he ran against Kerry ;) . Has Madonna shifted her support from Clark to Kerry? Will she go 3rd party? :tinfoilhat:

11. Um... Madonna is a mature woman now. I'm sure that she..
Like the rest of us will support the nominee. If that nominee is Kerry then I think that Maddona, Whoopee, and all the rest of them will support him.

5. I like it too. Kerry and Clark can round each other out.
Kerry is the experienced insider; Clark is the traditionalist southern outsider. What a great team they would make for the country!

10. Clark will be a fabulous campaigner in the south...
The stump speech that he finally fine tuned (albeit a little too late), about faith and family values is suited to a southern audience.

14. IMO, Clark's Stump Speech Was Suited To AMERICA As A Whole
He is saying what needs to be said:; Family Values, Patriotism, Spirtuality/Concern for the Common Good are NOT the Province of the GOP.

In fact, the GOP uses empty rhetoric while their actual policies are 180 degrees to what they profess to be supportive of.

That the Left has REFUSED to discuss, Family, Values and Faith is why so many people have allowed themselves to shift to the Right regardless of the Extremism practiced by the GOP.

Unless the Democratic Party address this the way Clark did... we will LOSE in November.

Kerry's stump speech sucks in comparison.

6. A team-up like that would work well. I just don't see it happening.
I've gone through my opinions too many times on too many threads on this board.

I still maintain that if the Clark supporters don't remain together as a cohesive force within the party, Wes is yesterday's news. If we want to support Clark, we have to remain Clark supporters and be identified as such in the party and the media.

It may seem a little point but in political terms it is a really significant one. A leader with a strong following is listened to a lot more than a leader with a really nifty stump speech or a great resume. A politician's clout is measured in what he can bring to the table, and once the supporter base is dissipated, all Clark has left is the good will of other politicians.

That, and a dime, as they say...

7. Permission to come aboard?
I'm recovered emotionally and if Clark thinks Kerry is the best way to oust
Chimpus Smirkus than I'm down with it too.

In the inimitable words of the Magistrate:

"Let's go get those Bush bastards!"

15. Jersey!
That photo is awesome!

I've gotten a few first-hand reports from people who were at the Kerry/Clark rally yesterday. They all say that it looks like the two really do respect and admire and LIKE each other! It does provide me with a small bit of comfort.

Who knows what will happen with the VP spot, but at least we know that Wes will remain an active force in the Democratic Party!

16. That is an awesome photo
"permission to come on board sir? The Army is here" I thought it was great, to me it sounded like Clark knew he would be bringing along his most ardent supporters. I'm going to work and campaign for the candidate as hard as Clark worked for us, he answered a call, shook up the race for better or worse added an element of excitement so that record voters came out to vote and best of all during his run issues were exposed that no others could convincingly do and the result *'s numbers have started to slide at one point they were free falling. Thankyou Clark for getting Michael Moore up there and some scoff at the Madonna link but for getting our kids involved.

17. I agree.
Of the entire field. Clark would be the best in line to succeed the presidency and is the closest to Kerry's agenda.

20. Wasn't every much of a rah-rah girl for Kerry, but
I agree with you. If Clark's judgement says that Kerry is a-okay, then I feel a lot better about his front-runner status.

As for the rumored VP stuff... that sure makes the bitter pill of Wednesday morning MUCH MUCH easier to swallow.

That being said, my primary vote still goes to Wes (or perhaps Kucinich.) Why? Because if I voted for Kerry now, and he didn't select Clark to run as his VP, I would become terribly childish and go on an internal Kerry-hating rant. I know, Kerry never said he was selecting Clark, but a girl can dream, right?

24. I think that Kerry/Clark
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 03:15 PM by crunchyfrog
would make an incredibly powerful ticket. The War Heroes vs. the Chickenhawks. If Kerry has an ounce of sense in him he will realize what a tremendous asset Clark would be on his ticket. I hope he doesn't make a disastrous choice like Evan Bayh, as some seem to be advising. That would be hard to stomach.

Clark has the capacity to bring in Southerners, moderates and disgruntled Republicans without alienating the Democratic base the way some other choices might.

My heart will be broken all over again if Kerry doesn't pick Clark.

I have decided to send an email to the Kerry campaign urging him to choose Clark, and I would strongly encourage everybody else who feels the same way I do to do the same. If enough people do this, it may help prod Kerry into making what I believe is the right decision.

Needless to say, this should be done in the most respectful, polite and sensitive manner possible.

Kerry is very smart and I think he's figured this one out. There's bound to be an angel on his shoulders! O8)
