An idea for future Presidential forums.

[Old and In the Way]

It just occurred to me that you just know some of the candidates are lying through their teeth but feel their need to say or answer questions in ways that probably contradict how they really feel.

Wouldn't these political game shows be a lot more interesting if they were all hooked up to a lie detector? Now, I know it's not scientific or anything, but I would think that each could answer a series of test questions that would be answered to establish baselines for false and true answers.


Not to put too much pressure on the candidates...their answers would be recorded on TV monitors only, so the moderators and the audience are unable to react and influence the participants' responses.

Yes or no answers.

"Do you believe in evolution?"
"Do you support a woman's right to choose?"
"Is present tax policy good for the middle class?"
"Did Bush mislead us into war?"
"Will you end the war in Iraq?"
"Do you believe in the separation of church and state?"
"Will you spy on Americans?"

Candidates from both parties should answer a series of identical fundamental questions.

Wouldn't that be interesting? It's not like we are criminalizing Presidential politics, but I don't think we can afford many more George Bush types who've broken every promise that he campaigned on. I don't think we want to reward pathological liars who'll say one thing and do another once elected. It sure would be entertaining and it might force candidates to be more honest about their positions.
