1. I believe it is sourced in both of the following:
Mark Crispin Miller's The Bush Dyslexicon and
Dr. Justin Frank's Bush on the Couch

PS Snopes doesn't know about LOTs of things...

2. Kristof wrote about it in 2000.
"We were terrible to animals," recalled Mr. Throckmorton, laughing. A dip behind the Bush home turned into a small lake after a good rain, and thousands of frogs would come out.

"Everybody would get BB guns and shoot them," Mr. Throckmorton said. "Or we'd put firecrackers in the frogs and throw them and blow them up."

3. Enough dirty laundry here without needing to see if he blew up frogs

How about spending one year (exactly) @ a Houston inner city youth center ...
can you say community service?

Bush official bio lists his time there but forgets about him having to sign in & out.

4. A childhood friend of his said so, seemingly not

thinking it was wrong. It's difficult doing searches these days, since 99% of Google hits are from Wikipedia and anyone can post anything on Wikipedia. You should try to get someone with Lexis Nexus access to do a search for you.
