Guys, the sliming is beginning!!!
Now that Kerry is the "presumptive nominee" the pubs are shooting their artillery early and often. I hope that the Dem response will be as strong and as fierce against GWB*. The fate of our country rests on the outcome of this election.

1. I don't think
Kerry's campaign manager was kidding when she said everything was on the table. The Bushbots are in for a fight, otherwise they would never have come out this early.

2. We really don't know yet who started the artillery
I held my nose, put on my hip waders, and went into the rush limbaugh site. His conclusion: "We don't know who it is, but someone is out to get John Kerry."

Everyone is baffled at this turn of events and its timing, thus the intrigue.

4. He's the presumptive nominee
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 01:33 AM by DianeG5385
They want to ridicule and marginalize Kerry early and often. We must fight like we have never fought before. This is why I regret Clark's decision to withdraw now. It allows the morons to focus their laser beams on one man, with the help of the media I might add!

9. I don't think
I'd be looking for Mr. Oxycontin to be pointing his finger. He hasn't even been charged with anything yet. Doesn't want to step on any toes.

6. Not sure it is the pubs
"I can only verify that Chris Lehane's rivals in other Democratic campaigns made these claims and I have found no independent source to confirm it."

Hmmm, which Democratic campaign would it be? It must be the Kucinich campaign, ya think? :eyes:

The Drudge item blaming Lehane quoted Craig Crawford, a former Democratic operative who now works as a consultant and columnist for MSNBC. Within 10 minutes after Drudge posted the Kerry intern item, Crawford sent a memo to his superiors that said the story was "something Chris Lehane (clark press secy) has shopped around for a long time." According to Crawford, someone at MSNBC promptly leaked his memo to Drudge. But when Lehane called Crawford with a loudly indignant denial, the MSNBC columnist quickly issued a public retraction. He said:

"The comments attributed to me are from a private email to television news associates based on conversations with Democratic campaign operatives. I did not consider any of it confirmed enough to report or publish. I can only verify that Chris Lehane's rivals in other Democratic campaigns made these claims and I have found no independent source to confirm it. Which is why we did not go with the story. But then someone sent my email to others, which is the only reason it got into the public domain." In other words, there is no proof that Lehane circulated the rumor, let alone that the rumor has any basis in reality.

10. Kerry's response to the bimbo eruption should be something like . . .
"Since my wedding day, the only person with whom I've had any kind of intimate or sexual relationship is my beautiful, brilliant wife, Theresa. This is the absolute truth. Anyone who asserts anything to the contrary is engaging in lying and in gutter politics. And that's all I will have to say about this topic, unless I am forced to respond to additional lies in the future."

true or not, who can prove it one way or the other? . . .

12. It started long ago.
I go to a military photography newsgroup and most of the posters there are RWers. There's been a thread there about how Kerry is a war criminal and killed a bunch of kids in Vietnam. All the Freepazoids and just taking it as gospel with no evidence whatsoever.

And on my discussion board on Delphi, one loon is going on and on about how Kerry has PTSD and could flip out at any moment and thus cannot be trusted in the WH. He's also demanding that Kerry release his mental health records.

It's going to be a long campaign -- get used to it.
