Was this Kerry scandal engineered to unlock Theresa's money?

Think about it for a second. She announced early on she wouldn't use her money for her husband's campaign, unless in response to character attacks. What do we have here? If this is unsubstantiated, is it a favor Lehane did Kerry in order to give Theresa justification for biting back? Just a totally idle speculation, but one I haven't seen brought up yet. She can't legally fund his campaign, but she sure can run issue ads.

...it would have been much less damaging to them if the rumor was about her and not him, plus more "on target" for releasing the cash.

Or some facts. :) Drudge doesn't really qualify, and unless this lady likes to keep stained dresses and/or her friend is Linda Tripp, proof will also be hard to come by. So the plan may be just to sling mud around and hope it sticks, or there may be proof, and Kerry will have to deal with it one way or another. And so will his wife.
