Iraq Parliament to go on holiday for two fucking months while Gin Blossom George surges
Did you know this? I thought I heard it yesterday or the day before. The Iraq Parliament is taking cues from our Asshole In Chief and hanging it up for a couple of months.

Meanwhile, as the Democrats send a bill that fully funds Gin Blossom George's Folly, but also asks for some 'benchmarks', the Asshole In Chief is saying "Not good enough pardners ..... you cain't tell **me** what ta do."

Hey Georgie Boy ...... what the fuck? Our soldiers can go over there and get the shit blown out 'em, but you just let the Iraq GOVERNMENT take a powder?? Why not *at least* ask them why they hate Iraq .... or some other equally childish gesture?

Man, you're even worse than I thought you were.

(Link to a reference to the recess at the bottom of this article ... the best I could find.

3. Actually Hagel mentioned this on the floor of the Senate..
For the life of me, I can't fathom why no one else is raising a fuss about this..
I mean really..TWO MONTHS OFF!!!
I have to believe that if this was made more known that chimpys surge would be shut down by even the Rethugs..there is no way they could support this..
Kos? Atrios? Anyone?

4. Oops..It was warner, not Hagel..
From warners web site..

"We cannot ask our forces, nor the Iraqi forces, to risk life and limb during their missions, unless the Iraqi legislature and the government of Iraq begins to give an equal or greater measure of commitment to perform their responsibility to achieve political solutions. A military solution, we all acknowledge, will not alone achieve a strong, survivable, sovereign Iraq. A political solution and a framework of legal reconciliation is essential.

And we must, at this point in time, bring to light a serious potential problem, which I have been told, that the Iraqi legislature might possibly take a 2-month recess during July and August. That is not acceptable. An action of that consequence would severely hinder those of us, myself and others, who are looking at the greater issue beyond Iraq as to the impact on this region if the combined efforts of our country and other nations fail".

5. The Iraqi Govt. officials have to hide until the Surge is over.
They are in danger of their lives because the Insurgency is not melting away. On the contrary, various Insurgent groups are ratcheting up their assaults.

8. Here's another article from a week ago that refers to it:
"...Parliamentary officials said lawmakers were expected to take a break at the end of June for two months.

"I expressed the hope that the council of representatives would not recess for the summer without passing laws on hydrocarbons, debaathification, provincial elections and other measures," Gates told a news conference in Baghdad.

He declined to specify what would happen if the Iraqis had not done so, but he made clear their performance on reconciliation would be an important part of Washington's review of its security commitment in Iraq at that time.

Iraq's government has said it plans to submit a draft oil law to parliament next week."

9. Just a guess here .......
.... I'm thinking its not been 'reported'on because Gin Blossom George is trying to get the Iraqi Parliament to cancel the recess.

I suspect that if this actually happens, the Dems will make a big deal about it and further erode support for the surge and use it as leverage to get Gin Blossom George to accept their funding bill .... or even less.

If they're smart, that is ..............

10. TWO MONTHS?
I used to think that the jobs with the most vacation time in the world (GWB's job notwithstanding) were the positions held by our esteemed Congressmen and Congresswomen.
Apparently I was wrong...

TWO MONTHS. Yes, that should instill confidence, and really get things cleaned up.

I gotta say, I'm on board with the whole "wait out the GWB presidency and then blame the whole mess on the Democrats" theory.
Why not, right? It worked with September 11th. Even though a Republican mayor ran NYC and a Republican president/cabinet controlled DC, they somehow manage to spin it that Republicans are the only ones who can protect us from terrorism? WTF?
