ABC News Blog: Biden Auditions for VP
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., seemed to be auditioning to be Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., running mate at the conclusion of Thursday's Democratic presidential debate in South Carolina.

"Whoever wishes for Hillary is making a big mistake on the Republican side," said Biden when asked by NBC’s Brian Williams if he saw any winners on the stage other than himself.

Biden's complimentary remark was followed by his receiving a big kiss on the cheek from the former first lady when the debate was over.

The Delaware Democrat also took a thinly veiled swipe at Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, and former Sen. Mike Gravel, D-Alaska, two far-left candidates participating in Thursday’s debate.

"Let's stop all this happy talk here about the 'use of force doesn't make sense,'" said Biden. "The use of force in Afghanistan is justified and necessary; in Darfur, justified and necessary; in the Balkans, justified and necessary. You guys can have your happy talk, there's real life."

1. You want "real life" Biden? Here it is:
You're ugly, you're stupid, and nobody likes you.

18. Well here's "real life". Biden plagiarizes speeches.
Furthermore he is clearly in the pocket of the credit card industries, like Daschle was. It's Delaware and South Dakota, for heavens' sake.

So if Sen. Clinton picks him as her kiss-ass running mate, that says a lot of bad things about Sen. Clinton, in my opinion.

8. I've loathed Biden ever since I watched him sucking up to Clarence Thomas
live on the TeeVee.

And he's rarely failed to disappoint ever since.

Pompous, annoying, irritating jerk. He'll never be President, and I can't fathom why anyone would want to have him as his/her Veep, save for that all-important tiny-state vote.

4. I've always thought, his mouth aside, that he was auditioning for SECSTATE
The guy does know foreign policy better than most.

9. And I concur.
He'd feel very important, and we could punish world leaders we didn't like by sending him over for a visit.

5. I enjoyed the happy talk line...DK and Gravel had their say

and then they went overboard; Mahmoud Ahmedinejad doesn't need an advocate in the Democratic Party. It was good to see Biden put them in their place.

As for Biden as VP, I see that as a waste of a pick, especially for Hillary. The VP should give us a chance to shore up the electoral map and he delivers Delaware. If Richardson can be trusted not to put his foot in his mouth, his foreign policy credentials are just as strong as Biden's and he brings New Mexico, strength elsewhere in the West and the hispanic vote to the table.

6. All important points and valid, too.
I also think that 'happy talk' --like it or not-- is NOT going to solve the shame of Darfur. That situation needs boots on the ground with guns, unfortunately.

Like I said--I think Biden is auditioning for SECSTATE. I think it is the job he really wants. Short of that, a 'quality' ambassadorship.

12. VP Biden
Oddly, Hillary is the one who would gain the least from Biden's presence on the ticket. She was a de facto WH Chief of Staff for eight years and is seen as someone who knows the ropes in Washington.

Biden would make a solid running mate for either Obama or Edwards. Both have limited foreign policy experience (though Obama's instincts seem very sound), and having a guy like Biden (or Richardson or Clark) would help address a potential weakness.

17. If hillary is smart she will pick clark as her VP
Biden is another 'northeast liberal' senator who won't help her win anything - clark will solidify her military strength credentials and help her with ohio and ark.

13. He would make a great Prez or a great VP.
I'm not sure he could help win an election either way, but I think he could handle either job.

He is as genuine politician as there is - love him or hate him. He just says what he thinks.
