Senators debunk Broder
Yesterday, ThinkProgress noted David Broder’s baseless claim that, thanks largely to his views on Iraq, a “long list of senators of both parties…are ready” for Sen. Harry Reid’s tenure as majority leader “to end.” Today, the Post publishes a letter to the editor signed by all 50 members of Reid’s caucus, praising him for his “extraordinary leadership.”

Sen. Reid's Fine Leadership
We, the members of the Senate Democratic Caucus, contest the attack on Sen. Harry Reid's leadership by David S. Broder in his April 26 column, "The Democrats' Gonzales."

In contrast to Mr. Broder's insinuations, we believe Mr. Reid is an extraordinary leader who has effectively guided the new Democratic majority through these first few months with skill and aplomb.

The Democratic caucus is diverse, and Mr. Reid has worked tirelessly to make sure that the views of each member are heard and represented. No one ideology dominates the caucus, so that a consensus can be reached and unity achieved. It is hard to imagine a better model for leadership.

2. GOOD!
Broder should probably retire. He has nothing to add to the conversation.

3. K&R And they managed to do it without using the words,
"jerks" or "assholes" even once.

Perhaps the myth of democrats' being weak will be dispelled at long last.

The senate, especially, needs to stand firm, giving no quarter. With this wonderful beginning, any back off, now, would be devastating beyond its dimension.
OT
Have you noticed how wonderfully different Nancy Pelosi's speaking is, these days.
Remember how painful it could get when her mind was going a mile a minute and it seemed her speaking just couldn't keep up, false starts and stammering? I don't know if the difference is that she has come through the valley of death and has succeeded beyond the hopes of three or four years ago or just what.

It makes me kind of sigh and shiver a little to listen to her, now.

4. I wonder of any of this will get through to Broder.
I doubt it.

6. The way it really works, though, is that Broder did hear from his establishment Dem sources

to form his story against Reid. Probably through use of 'senate staff' members or mutual friends.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the usual undermining Dem characters even signed onto that letter.
