Best answer of the debate
Edited on Fri Apr-27-07 02:20 AM by DeepModem Mom
CNN: Best answer so far

WASHINGTON (CNN) --Senator Biden's answer to whether he can avoid being verbose and gaffe-prone: "Yes." (Followed by a long pause, and laughter, before moderator Brian Williams said, "Thank you, Senator Biden," and moved on.)

(Doug Mills/The New York Times)
Senator Obama laughs at Senator Biden's one-word answer to a question about verbosity.

3. May have been the best answer
But God almighty, was that the worst question you can imagine? Would Brian Williams ask George W. Bush if he can avoid using the word "unnerstand" in any of his answers? Or say "wait a second" when no one is interrupting him -- at least no one that the rest of us can hear?

As usual, if you turn something around, you see just how ingrained the bias is.

5. Brian Williams was playing "gotcha" all night instead of asking substantive questions.

For example the question to Edwards about hedge funds, or Obama's question about an obscure political donor. wtf? The world is on fire and you're asking about Edwards' hedge fund and whether Biden won't "make gaffes." Shoot me.

12. Well, actually
that was the round where he went around and asked each candidate about their perceived weaknesses/controversies. The rest was mostly policy stuff.

18. Mr. Bush, can you speak an entire sentence without help?
Can you answer a question that wasn't on a script?

6. MSM loves sound bytes. Pathetic superficiality. We Americans
will get what we deserve; this is how Bush was promoted by the media through
two elections, which were stolen.

I found myself depressed by the whole excuse for a debate last night.

7. Questions
The questions revealed the lack of intelligence, curiosity, or the lack of knowledge about our government by the questioneer. The quesitons stunk. This wasn't suppose to be some entertainment gossip show, although that's what MSNBC tried to make it.
This is the real world, for God's sake. We are sinking for the second time, and these mostly stupid questions are posed to our candidates?
Who gives a damn what someone 'said' about a candidate. I want to know what their semi detailed plans are for the future.
MSNBC didn't schedule enough time for the questions...why I don't know. They had a whole studio full bobbleheads talking for hours after the questioning, giving their twisted interpretations of the answers to the mostly stupid questions, so time really shouldn't have been a problem.
Disappointment is not a strong enough word to describe my assessment of the way this opportunity was handled by MSNBC.
My sympathies went out to the candidates who tried to overcome the asininity of the whole thing.

8. I agree. When you think of the hours and hours of air time
that are available through TV, and the hours of advertising and inane programming, it is so disturbing that time can't be allotted to find out who these candidates are and how they would lead the country.

9. Face it... MSNBC did a crappy job with organizing the debate..

They didn't consider the timeframes needed for questions and responses for 8 people, and they (MSNBC) acted stressed and rushed from the very start. Aside from that, I wouldn't have selected Brian Williams as the moderator.

Maybe it's just me.. but the guy has the personality of an eggplant.

It's too bad the Democrats went first and the ugly-thuglies don't have their debate until May 3rd. By then, I'm sure they'll work out some of the bugs from the last night and it won't be as screwed up.

MSNBC isn't taking any blame for their horrific production today.. they're just claiming that the candidates were dull.

The real loser last night (IMO) was MSNBC and their piss poor planning.

13. The question was stupid and unfair to begin with
And I'm definitely no supporter of Biden.

I thought the moderator could be such a schmuck at times.

15. Obama's answer on Lebanon was the best answer.
Not only did he unravel the spin of omission, but he rephrased it, and recalled his statement, and answered the question as it should have been, all in the alloted time.

That was simply amazing.
