When the RW and msm roll out the list of horribles if we pull out
of Iraq, we should point out that all of the dire results they predict are the natural consequence of starting and mismanaging this war not ending it. The idea that we Democrats will be responsible for the aftermath of this misbegotten adventure needs to be strenuously resisted. We delude ourselves when we paint an unduly optimistic view of what Iraq will be after we leave. But the onus for the bitter aftermath of this debacle falls on its architects not on those who finally end it.

1. We're already there at this point it is only a matter of degree
Plus alQaeda, such as it is, will promptly get the boot out of Iraq. They are only being tolerated because they are doing some of the dirty work for the powers that soon will be in Iraq. Those powers don't want alQaeda around either.

4. Andrew Sullivan makes the same point about Iraqis getting rid
of AlQaeda when we leave in a post on theatlantic.com.

2. republicans cutely say that there are evil consequences of a
pullout. They failed to listen to rational humans who said five years ago their are evil consequences if we go in and that simple statement is proven every single day we are there. Anything that happens in Iraq once we are gone are all bush's fault. He lied us in, its his baby and his alone. I'm sure there will be mention of it in his library. I find it ironic that conservatives really get offended when one refers to the war as bush's war. I thought they'd be proud.

3. Excellent point. It is not just that the current situation was
predictable, it was actually predicted. And yet the Neo-con apostles are still filling the airways with their bullshit while those who said this would be a debacle struggled for so long to let the American people know the magnitude of the immoral folly that is Bush's War.
