Zogby: Clinton Leads the Dem Pack in South Carolina
Obama trails at 26%; Edwards third with 21% support

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton enjoys a solid lead over her top two Democratic rivals among South Carolinians likely to vote in the Democratic primary early next year, a new Barrington Broadcasting/Zogby International telephone poll shows.

Clinton wins 33% support, while Illinois Sen. Barack Obama holds second-place with 26% support. John Edwards, who was born in South Carolina, is close behind in third at 21%. Clinton’s strength stems in part from her following among women, 40% of whom support her, compared to 25% for Obama and 18% for Edwards. The race is much tighter among men, with Obama holding a slight edge at 27%, followed by Edwards at 25% support and Clinton at 24%.

3. Cram it with walnuts, here's Hillary 1 pt from Giuliani and gaining.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Political%20Tracking/Presidential%20Match-Ups/April%202007/Giulianiv.Clinton20070405.htm

"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that Giuliani’s lead over New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) has disappeared. The former First Lady has closed the gap and pulled to within a single percentage point, trailing just 48% to 47%. Last month, Giuliani had an eight point lead over Clinton. The month before, it was nine points. In fact, Giuliani had been ahead of Clinton in five straight monthly polls dating back to December. "

6. Well,I can't name names but a Hillary supporter here was just laughing at Rasmussen the other day.
So apparently even her supporters can't agree on whether it can be trusted or not.

9. I don't pay much attention to any of them.
Live by the polls, die by the polls.

Not a lot of consistancy in that department here on DU. :)

8. Welll we are not exactly a hive mind
So shockingly, some of us feel differently than others. ;-)

Personally I have found Rasmussen has done a good job on everything except Bush's approval numbers (which always seemed to be an outlier on the high side).

His accuracy the last 3 elections speaks for itself.

10. No,you're right.Sorry about that.
I only used a Hillary supporter as an example because it was just the latest example I saw here of someone liking polls they agree with and harping on those they don't.I've seen it from all sides though, which is just one of many reasons why I think polls are silly.

I wonder how many people would agree that. :D

11. No need to be sorry.
I am sure the poll race drives quite a few Duers batty.

My own opinion about polls should be self evident ;-)

15. It depends on what Rass' polling is showing regarding HRC on a given day
The same thing with Gallup, Zogby, etc.

12. Great. Where are the "Hillary beats all Repubs" polls?
And speaking of walbuts, how does Rasmussen have Hillary doing against McCain compared to how Obama and Edwards do against McCain?

17. They all beat McCain and the trend is up for Democrats, down for GOP
I know it must be upsetting to see your Hillary can't win meme swirl around the drain.

Oh well, you may have to start attacking her for something else.

25. Not upsetting to me at all.
Her overall numbers are generally worse than Obama and Edwards. Unfav/favs, would you vote for/would you not vote for, general election polls, etc. She is generally worse on all fronts compared to the other frontrunners. Go take a look at the polls yourself, and compare her performance to Edwards and Obama. Let me know if you want me to dig them up for you.

If she is our nominee, I hope she wins. You want to make this personal, and it really shouldn't be. I think she is a mediocre candidate and think she would be a mediocre President for dozens of reasons. Her weak numbers are just one. She would undoubtedly be better than any Repub, and that is why will have no hesitation in voting for her. I guess I just find it kind of depressing that the Hillary supporters I find online (as I don't find them anywhere else) NEVER seem to be able to admit her weaknesses. I can admit her strengths: she can raise serious money, everyone knows who she is, and she does very well in primary polls. I can also admit that candidates I like: Obama, Gore, Richardson, Edwards, Clark, etc all have weaknesses.

What are Hillary's weaknesses in your opinion?

19. "compared to how Obama and Edwards do"
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 04:09 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
Don't expect to see that. You posted comparisons several times and every single time the HRC fans ignored it because they cannot respond to it. Their position seems to be that we should have faith that HRC will manage to win and ignore the strength of Edwards and Obama. After all, if she loses it only means four more years of Republican rule? How much damage could they do in four years? :sarcasm: :nuke:

16. It happens occassionally--when the tide is high for Democrats
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 04:05 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
Even when she does beat Republicans she does so by less than Edwards and Obama. One poll had her beating McCain in a squeaker while Edwards comfortably beat him. The latter two trounce little-known Republicans and seem to be competitive regardless of where the tide is at a given moment.

13. Try....Hillary 24% Obama 23%
It is all in whatever poll you wish to 'go with'. Any way you look at it, Hillary is rapidly losing ground. And I live in South Carolina, and I can tell you that the momentum is on Obama's side. Stay tuned until after the Thursday debates.

Clinton, Obama neck and neck in SC
Posted: Monday, April 23, 2007 6:25 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray and Chuck Todd
Just three days before the Democratic presidential debate in South Carolina, a new poll by South Carolina NBC affiliate WIS-TV finds that Clinton and Obama are running neck and neck in the state. In the poll, which was conducted by Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group, Clinton is the preferred choice of 24% of likely Democratic primary voters, Obama is at 23%, and Edwards is at 16%.

26. Very good. Edwards pulls 5% from each of them and we win the primary and the general.
He's in the perfect spot for this point in the race.
