From TPM Cafe today...

Obama: In Defiance Of American People, Bush Will Stay In Iraq Forever

By Greg Sargent

Barack Obama hammers President Bush for his ostrich-like statements on the war this morning:

“The President has once again threatened to ignore the will of the American people, their Congress, and even the good advice of his own Defense Secretary by refusing to tell the Iraqi government that America will not be there forever.

“The President’s insistence on keeping U.S. troops in the crossfire of a civil war for as long as he pleases will not end the bloodshed or change the political dynamic in Iraq. That’s why I believe that my plan for a phased withdrawal with the goal of removing all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31st, 2008 is still the best way to pressure the warring factions to reach a political settlement necessary end this war. Congress has created an opportunity to responsibly redeploy from Iraq while protecting our interests in the wider Middle East, and both Republicans and Democrats will continue to build bipartisan support for this plan no matter how many times this President refuses to recognize the reality of the dire situation in Iraq.”

Bush wants to stay in Iraq until victory or forever, whichever comes first, and the American people don't. It can't be repeated enough.

2. What's the problem with that?
We remove all of the troops, contractors, and military advisers out and airlift Bush in - FOREVER.

3. Somehow, some has to convince Republicans
that the best strategy is to get out of the war in Iraq, then have them put the pressure on their Congressmen. The end result has to come from Republicans.
