Please, not another four years of sex scandals! (Kerry)
I still respect and admire Bill Clinton, but the four years of Monica-Lewinsky-this and Gennifer-Flowers-that really took its toll on me. The sex lives of politicians is absolutely none of my business, but unfortunately, the Republicans will use this issue and it will dominate the news and drown out other, more important, issues. We have to put a stop to this now. Americans will NOT vote for a guaranteed four-year long sex scandal.

20. I hate cheating men, but I don't care about what married couples do
However, I simply do not want to hear the corporate media talking about Kerry's private parts for the next four years. I simply can't stomach it.

Plus, all Bush has to say is, if Kerry's own wife can't trust him, then how can the American people trust him?

46. This is true.
We have time to turn back from this disaster. Clinton gave the Republicans family values as an issue and gave Democrats a bad name. Personally, I prefer that a person's private like be just that, but things have changed since womanizers like the first JFK.

If this is true, I don't think people are going to want to see another 4 years of this stuff.

Why, is there any cake left? I'll take cake, thank you!!!

- Eddie Izzard

I really don't have the guts, gumption or stomach for another sex scandal. If this thing hits the mainstream media, and if Kerry doesn't come out swinging in denial, then I want a new frontrunner.

There are too many life-and-death issues ahead of us, than to be distracted off the best message we've had in years by stupid sex stuff that the American electorate will lap up with a spoon.

I don't know if it's true... but if it hits the mainstream media, I'll trust Kerry's denial, and nothing else.

There seem to be two stories out there. One is about Kerry and this woman he dated while he was single, but this Drudge story appears to be about something recent.

I'm interested to see what Time is actually going to report next week, if anything. (If it were nothing I'd like to think they would've released something saying, "Drudge is full of shit and we're not covering anything like this next week.")

10. some humor
First off, let me just say that Americans might very well vote for four more years of sex scandals if it comes with Clinton's peace and prosperity. Bush is a disaster, let's remember, and the scandals are hitting him hard as well. This time the public is faced with scandals of the Bush variety (unecessary war, intelligence leaks, AWOL, etc.) or those of the Clinton variety (an affair).

On to the humor: Wonkette

My favorites:

Drudge clarifies: "The woman fled to Africa." OK, that sounds more plausible. (But still, she slept with Kerry? Really?)

From Slate: "Ten ways to rationalize the publication of infidelity rumors." No. 11: "You could write an article about the media attempts to rationalize it."

I don't think this is going to turn into much, but who knows. At this point I'm not really worried about this hurting Kerry. (And for the record, I'm a Dean supporter.)

23. too early to tell....
...but I dare say that the voting public is probably NOT interested at all in another 4 years of hearing about sex scandals! As the saying goes, where there's smoke there's fire. Well I hear that Gore didn't give Kerry the VP nod back in 99 due to alleged improprieties. Is this a pattern?

For now it seems very unlikely to me anyway that this happened. I think that if it DID happen, it WILL play a big role in the minds of the public.

29. I know what you mean about not wanting to hear it. After all the crap with
Clinton, god bless his elvis heart!, people are worn down.
As I see it, it rather speaks to judgment and character.

I know. Who cares? Some do. A lot of people do.

What kind of brain do you have to do to have an affair -if
true and I saw it on the front of the National Enquirer just
now at the store, and their track record is pretty damned
good- before running for the most open job in the galaxy?
What kind of soul must you have to know that you did what
you did -if true- knowing full well the pirhanas will eat
your liver?

And what kind of person must you be to go on TV with your
wife and act like she's only ever the one when you knew you
were doing wrong with another?

Kerry better prove its not true. I am DAMNED tired of
arrogant politicians who think they can hide their lack
of decency while claiming it for others.

45. sorry Hawker, that just isn't fair
sure I don't want Kerry to get the nomination. But don't blame me if it turns out he couldn't keep his penis to himself.
Amoung all the things I dislike about Kerry is what I see as his lack of character. If he has been cheating on his wife when he knew he was about to run for President... well then that is one more reason for me to hope he disapears into retirement. I don't think the average person is going to feel any loyalty to kerry the way they did with Clinton. I just don't think people have the stomach to go through another 8 years of bimbo erruptions.

53. Blame? No blame...
Just annoyed that some people sound PLEASED that our current front runner MIGHT have a problem.

I am not a Kerry supporter. But I'll give him this: he has a record of being a liberal. Yes, he's made mistakes with the Patriot Act and War vote... But let's look at Dean's record on the same subjects: How did he vote on them?

Yes, I know, he didn't vote for them. He didn't vote against them. He wasn't in office at the time. The perfect cover: he doesn't have to give his opinion on a subject until after we see the mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20.

51. Yes I do recall it stopping him, if not for Perot
I do recall how Clinton would have lost to George H.W. Bush were it not for Ross Perot taking 19 percent of the vote. By over 2:1 this 19 percent came out of the Bush column.

Clinton only got 43 percent of the vote. Remove Perot from the equation and it would have ended up Bush 51-52 to Clinton 49-48.
