Poll question: Gonzo's memory deficit: Real or a Lie?
Gonzo claimed as many failures of memory as the mob guys did back when Estes Kefauver had them in the same seat Gonzo used last week. One of the mob guys, however, took the fifth when asked his name. Gonzo didn't quite top that.

But ....... was Gonzo lying when he said he didn't remember? Or was he actually telling the truth - meaning he was either out of the loop or just lain stupid?

Either case is very troubling, but for different reasons.

What do you think?

Please add comments, too.

2. He's a liar who sure doesn't seem too bright. How can anyone
'study' for weeks, only to go before the committee and 'forget' everything?
Oh, and he's not a very convincing actor, either.

3. I don't recall, I don't remember what was this post about?
I've gone back and looked at my notes on your post
and I really don't recall what your post was about
.
I made the decision to reply to your post and assume full
responsibility about the decision to vote on your poll.

However it was the week of Meth awareness week
and even though I made the final decision I had left the
decision to my team and I don't recall the meeting.

6. Oh, he's lying for sure, but also extremely incompetent & arrogant

so that he pays no attention to details because he doesn't think HE has to.

Gonzo strikes me as someone, not unlike Bush* who putzed away any potential with his own arrogance and entitlement. I think the has bluffed his way through--with limited intellectual capacity-- by playing the loyal brown noser card, aided by the "member of a minority who doesn't mind exploiting that membership for his own selfish advancement and sell out his own out" card..

7. I think he was told to say exactly what he said.
And I think the bit about him "rehearsing" five hours a day was definitely a lie. Bet they had a good laugh that the media bit on that one. Can't they hold him in contempt for his behavior? The whole thing frustrated me no end. I guess he'll end up losing his job for it, but it was all so arrogant. Maybe they'll call him back after he gets the axe.

8. lying saves his bacon with the Bushies and other big time RWers
His loyalty in allowing himself to look nearly retarded will allow him to sit on many boards, raking in tons of cash the rest of his life. If he started remembering embarassing stuff that implicated Rove and others, well, his sedition would make him an outcast. Lying was practical for him, so he did it.

9. I just think it is he is not the political police man. Carl is.
And the word came down from Bush and Rove what they wanted and he messed it up. So now they let him swing in the wind trying to get out of it and keep the political police out of it. They do not care for this guy as he did it wrong so they sure are not going to help him out. All he needs to say is I was told to do this by Bush and Rove but you know we get this fun in place of it as he has no reason for what he did. It is like a kid trying to get out of a lie. It pays to be loyal to Bush if you want your life to come to a stand still. He would have been in better luck to have gone with the loyal part with the Constitution.
