be nearly enough to permanently erase the failures of the Bush administration.
The pile's high and it smells. No significant domestic initiatives, and several failed ones. A hugely unpopular war. No visible evidence of a foreign policy. Manipulation of the Department of Justice. Hurricane Katrina victims along the Gulf Coast trembling with hunger in a sports coliseum while the president sips iced tea -- or whatever he had in the glass -- down in Crawford. Black mold and cockroaches at Walter Reed for veterans who were used as pawns for Bush's war-for-oil. The sustained impression by voters when they listen to him speak that he's a vacuous moron.
You're right about the media frenzy and distraction factor.
But Bush has to emerge from the other side of it once it's died down, and all he's got is nothin'.
