I obtained my little credit card looking thing, and went to the box, which is sitting out in the open in the middle of the floor in the room. An elections official's wife was there to instruct voters on how to vote on these stupid devices. She stood over me talking to me the whole time I was trying to put my card in the machine and cast my ballot.
On the first insertion of the card, I received a message that my ballot had been cancelled. WTF? I told her, "My ballot was cancelled." She inserted my card in some kind of little device she had in her hand, and then handed the card back to me. I inserted the card in the machine again, the ballot came up, and I voted NO.
I complained, "I wish that we'd go back to paper ballots so that there'd be no confusion or monkey business. There's no paper trail on these stupid machines."
She said, "No, these are better."
I replied, "Then why did the coastal counties in Mississippi just revert to paper ballots?"
She said, "Really?" (Looks like Miss Informed is misinformed.)
All this while I'm trying to cast my ballot in an election.
What bothers me is that this family is very politically involved and they're very publicly supportive of one side of the issue in this election. And she's watching people cast their ballots. She's watching people vote. Who am I supposed to complain to? Her HUSBAND?
