Mike Henry...."Making the Case for Hillary"...deputy campaign manager for Hillary's campaign...
Will be on the Raising Kaine Live Blog Radio Show this Sunday at 8:00. His topic is "Making the case for Hillary" You can post questions if your are registered....

Raising Kaine is a Virginia based blog instrumental in the campaigns of both Governor Kaine(hence the name), and most recently Jim Webb...

Mike Henry was previously the guy who directed the ad campaign for the DSCC in 2006, and was previousl campaign manager for Tim Kaine...

I heard him speak at a breakfast a few days before the 2006 elections. He predicted the outcome of EVERY Senate race correctly that morning...

He is a really impressive guy...

8. Stopping the Flag burning Amendment via the Flag bill ploy - plus all
the others listed on her Senate web site (a lot of "women's issues" which may be not a big deal to her detractors). Of course with GOP control of Pres/Senate/House, "taking leadership" position via speeches is just PR - the only real leadership is in getting small progressive changes made to GOP bills,

12. I Still Don't Understand How The Flag Move Was A Tactical Ploy
Hi Papau,

I may be dense, but I'm still not seeing how Mrs. Clinton's flag burning bill stopped the amendment. Why would voting for Mrs. Clinton's bill stop a legislator from also voting for the amendment?

In the absence of further information, it looks to me like another example where Mrs. Clinton simply staked out the middle position.

13. There was pressure building for the Amendment and Democrats were about to cave - the bill gave the
Democrats an out - they could be against flag burning but also against the Flag amendment.

Once the Amendment was dead the GOP lost interest - with a Bill they could not use the issue over and over again in 50 state legislatures as they could have via a campaign to get State approval for an Amendment and it was only an election issue to them - and nothing on flag burning was passed.

16. Possible - But Why Favor That Hypothesis?
I suppose that your suggested scenario might be the motivation. But do we actually know that it was? Do we know that it worked?

18. Did it work - well the bill was not passed and the Amendment dropped - as to knowing
another's mind - no one can, but one looks at a life - at the time 30 years from 1973 to 2003, of pushing progressive liberal causes and trying to end issues that divide us, throw in the GOP's famous problem of Hillary and the Back Panthers (she did minor legal work while in law school re the Panthers - those flag burning Panthers) and the conclusion is as close to a "no-brainer" as one ever gets in trying to guess why someone does something.

15. The telling part of this is that the main sponsor of the bill...
Sen. Bennett of Utah, voted against the flag desecration amendment...

2. He may make a case, but, I just don't care for Hillary.
He can talk and hope to change minds but, not mine. Mr Henry can be for who he wants and try to do his job. I just don't think it will change many minds.

10. What is the rationale for her candidacy? What is her message?
Edited on Sat Apr-14-07 06:06 AM by draft_mario_cuomo
She is the only candidate running for president who does not have an issues page on her campaign website. Why? Every other candidate does.

17. Her website does not even have an issues page
If she has a vision, why not have the courage to post it on her website like everyone else? Are the focus-group results not in yet?

20. The issues are laid out in detail on her Senate web site - but little on single payer
universal health - which is what I want to see.

21. Why not on the presidential site?
The other senators have issues pages on their president websites. Why doesn't HRC do the same on her presidential site, which is the site most people looking into her presidential campaign will visit?

Oh well. 4/26 is approaching soon and she will have to state some views then.

22. I don't understand Hillary has not moved a copy of the Senate web pages to the campaign site -a lack
of money perhaps to pay for the move?

I'm joking of course -

But you are correct - it is a bit odd.
