Did Clark rat out Kerry? Is there any validity to the charge?
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 04:26 PM by wyldwolf
WARNING: Rightwing source. No, I don't often believe what they report and I'm not saying I do now...

As a former Clark supporter (still would be if he were still in and would be again if he came back), I'm nevertheless disturbed by the rumor (confirmed?) that Clark, in an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." (reported by http://www.drudgereport.com)

Any comments? Clarifications?

Please save the flames. Everyone knows me to be one of Clark's most passionate supporters and defenders.

As for my opinion on the Kerry news, I'd rather have a president who (alledgedly) screwed an intern than one who has screwed the country!

2. I doubt it. Doesn't seem like the type of thing Clark would do.
Not in his character.

3. chill out a bit
You basically are getting upset and wopund up over that repuke of all pepukes, Drudge. For now let things settle and let the truth float to the top. Don't buy into the repuke game. I'm sure you have more sense then that!

5. Ahem. Clark. "off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters"
What part of that makes sense to you?

Nobody has an "off-the-record" conversation with a dozen reporters. That isn't how it is done.

Clark doesn't have "off-the-record" conversations with ANY reporter these days. His staff would pummel him unmercifully if he did.

The Clark reference is likely Drudge's attempt at a "two-fer"; attack Kerry and try to drag Clark into it.

If Clark expected Kerry to be brought down by a shocking revelation he would still be in the race.

Follow the logic?

6. From what I've read...
...this "scandal" took place years ago, and was "common knowledge" (as Kos put it).

So even if (and that's a big *if*) Clark was talking about it off the record, he wasn't exactly breaking news.

Since I haven't seen this "scandal" reported anywhere except on Drudge (and here), I don't think much of it at all, and I'm even less concerned about Clark's alleged "role" in it.

Just my two cents :hi:

7. I don't believe it
It's just not the man.

Maybe he said something - "internal issue" - "internet issue" - but I'm willing to bet he never said anything about "intern issue."

11. I'm telling you this politics is just down right dirty
and who the hell knows what is going on anymore. I'm trying to get over Clark endorsing Kerry at this point, surely he would vote and support the nominee but to endorse a man who he dubbed the insider up to yesterday and why he got into this race to be the outsider. I think I'm just going to have to finally believe the theory that the higher ups in this party have no intention of winning in 04.

9. How about context
If Clark did say something about implosion who knows the context, never would Clark be quoted out of context right?

If he said anything it probably went like this:

Reporter :So Wes of the record does Kerry have this locked up?

Clark:Sure looks like it but who knows maybe Kerry will implode over an intern issue

12. The Enquirer has been on this for a couple weeks.
I'm not shocked that drudge picked it up--especially since Clark dropped out yesterday...

Let's see, there were two guys with any military background in the race--at a time when the American polls show that Defense is a big concern--and one drops out. It figures the GOP spin machine is gonna start on the one left standing.

I will admit, however to a bit of amusement at how FAST the attacks came. They must be shitting little green apples to be this worried this soon!

14. Don't even care
If he mentioned it, it's because he was in a Presidential campaign and I suspect advised by a certain nutcase who I hope is permanently ejected by the Democratic Party. (No, not Dean this time)

Since it's apparently a rumor that would have come out sooner or later, better now. As long as it stays as stupid as it is now, it's done in a couple of days. And if Gore truly was so gutless as to pick Lieberman over Kerry because of this story, I just feel sad for him.

The Republicans put up a drunken, coke snorting, draft evading, AWOL, business failure for President. If we're afraid to run John Kerry, we really are the girly boys Coulter says we are.

16. It doesn't make any sense.
If you use logic 101:

Why would Clark have dropped out and why would he be endorsing Kerry if he believed Kerry was going to "implode"?

It doesn't add up.
