Swann now considering run for U.S. House
www.NFL.com is reporting that Lynn Swann has been approached and is considering a run at the Pittsburgh-area seat held by Democratic Rep. Jason Altmire.

I guess losing to Rendell might not be good enough. Make it 0 for 2.

on note:
can you imagine how much it must have sucked being at ABC sports when al michaels, dennis miller and lynn swann were there together?

1. The fact that the Pittsburgh area went for Rendell....
...is obviously not a clear enough message that Pittsburgh area voters are smart enough to separate their football from their politics.

Let's just hope after this defeat he gives up politics altogether

2. Hilarious. I love nouveau riche token black Republicans.
Always confusing a seat on the porch with a seat at the table.

Black Republicans are used and discarded. see powell, colin.

Why any self-respecting black man would ever aspire to join the Klan is beyond me. Same thing for Log Cabin Republicans.

3. that's the way it seems to me, but I am not a Black American
So I am only guessing. Of course, a good data point is the bush approval rating among Blacks of 2%, +/-3% MOE.

Oh, Ken Blackwell is now on staff at the ultraconservative Buckeye Institute in Ohio.

4. Swann just doesn't get it.
In the last PA governors race Swann was a what I call "a throw away candidate" and was being used by the Republicans for that very purpose. The repubs knew they could not win over Rendell, because, say what you want he really is liked by a lot us in PA. and they knew that they needed somebody who was expendable. Just like Dole running against Clinton in '96. They knew Clinton would win and they couldn't put a Bush up against him, so they just waited in the wings till the time was right.

Swann just does not get it. The heads of the Republican party knew from the get go he couldn't win, but they had no one else worth running, so he got the nod. Now they need another throw away canidate and so they use him again. I'm sure his ego is big enough to let him do it again. It almost makes me feel sorry for him, not.
