Leahy: Bush aides lying about e-mails

By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer 35 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -
President Bush's aides are lying about White House e-mails sent on a Republican account that might have been lost, a powerful Senate chairman said Thursday, vowing to subpoena those documents if the administration fails to cough them up.

"They say they have not been preserved. I don't believe that!" Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record) shouted from the Senate floor.

"You can't erase e-mails, not today. They've gone through too many servers," said Leahy, D-Vt. "Those e-mails are there, they just don't want to produce them. We'll subpoena them if necessary."

With that, Leahy headed to his committee, which approved — but did not issue — new subpoenas to compel the administration to produce documents and testimony about the firings of eight federal prosecutors over the winter.

Democrats say the firings might have been improper, but that probe yielded a weightier question: Whether White House officials such as political adviser Karl Rove are purposely conducting sensitive official presidential business via non-governmental accounts to evade a law requiring preservation — and eventual disclosure — of presidential records.

2. It's time to start the 4 I's on the road
to Impeachment. How much more of this is the American Public willing to take? Shadow Governments work well in countries run by dictators and despots - not in a Democracy....oops, forgot that went out the window in 2000. My bad.

3. And when they do "find" them, let's make sure nothing is blacked out
Because we know there will be much more red meat in those emails.

How does that work legally? If they subpoena the emails specifically for the USA issue, are the other crimes enumerated in the remainder of the text admissible as evidence?

6. Sister, is my tinfoil too tight, or am I getting vibes on why bringing in IT people from abroad
was so damned important? Hear me out and kick it around:

the junta is hopeless about the tech. Hell, bush & cheney BOTH gave out the WRONG web addresses during the 04 campaign. Then, there were all those emails that were supposed to stay inside the campaign organization that various idiots sent to a spoof site. That kept going on even AFTER the error was made public and the site published them, to the glee of the blogosphere.

Face it, the corporate puppets in the WH are clueless on tech matters. They have to have help to scrub and/or reconstitute (in edited, SAFE form) text to try and appease Leahy and the rest of the patriots on the Hill. And, their policies have made a LOT of IT people VERY angry (and unemployed).

The corporate bosses who hired the junta need IT people SOOOOO bad they have their politician puppets change laws to allow for more guest workers in tech fields, despite the fact that there are LOTS of well educated, HIGHLY trained & skilled tech workers in the US who cannot get decent jobs in their fields.

So, who are all those imported tech workers loyal to? Who gains by their dependence upon the corporate masters?

The junta is dragging their heels. They are buying time.

And I am not apologizing for thinking the worst about it all. They have sold this country out and they will do what it takes to cover their own tracks.

The committee needs to ISSUE THE DAMNED SUBPOENAS NOW and send in the marshals to cart out EVERY DAMNED machine any of the operatives have been mailing from.

NOW

8. Yes, you might need a chapeau adjustment~
:D
Even though we've outsourced many IT jobs, I don't really think the workers hired are working in/for the wh directly, so I can't imagine they imported workers having anything to do with this.

If I'm wrong, I can always adjust my hat.:hi:

10. Not hired expressly for this
but a handy, dandy, loyal back-up in place if the need ever arose

Since the shit that has gone down since 95 has been planned, with things being put in place since 1980, AT LEAST, I do give the junta credit for planning ahead. ;)
