3. Do the text messages sent via a Blackberry fo through a server

the same as a std. email? I understand quite a bit about the std. systems, but NOTHING about cell phones & Blackberry's. You mentioned cell towers, which apparently is the connection the BB uses. As far as I know, cell phone records only contain the from & to numbers, time sent, and duration, but no voice and I didn't THINK any text.
