Stirling Newberry, Snake within our midst Democratic Primaries 2004
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 04:04 PM by xultar
Clark supporters we have snake among us. He is, Stirling Newberry.
To give you background, Stirling Newberry was apart of the Draft Clark movement. When Clark finally decided to run Stirling Newberry assumed because he was "all that and a bag of chips" he'd get a kooshy job in the Clark campaign.

Well, that didn't happen.

Subsequently, Stirling Newberry went on an attack spree (not unlike the TX Chainsaw massacre) aimed squarely @ the Clark Campaign, staffers, supporters and Clark himself.

Stirling Newberry published an open nasty letter about the Clark Campaign and it's staffers within a day or so of Clark's announcement. Then he went and published other open letters about campaign funds, the campaign being tied to the Clintons, and another about how the Clark Camp was hiring professionals instead of the grassroots folks who did the draft Clark movements.

Again, with friends like that you don't need enemies.

Don't let Stirling Newberry change your opinion of Clark.

As for the story about Kerry and his mystery lady, the story was out long ago. The woman's friend went to reporters. There wasn't anything Clark could clarify that the media didn't already have poised and ready to go.

Stirling Newberry, is more dangerous because he pretends to be one of us down for the cause. But he's not just a regular human with greed and power in their heart.

1. Isn't Clark out of the race?
Why are you worried about the boogeyman changing how we feel about someone who is out?

3. Clark is a good man, he may yet be President, Vice President, SOS
SOD.
Govenor of Arkansas a senator from AR.

So that is why I worry he may be out now, but he may be back in...

Plus if he get's slimed then his endorsement hurts our nominee.

7. you can't change what others think or say.
just a few minutes ago that lowlife Woodruff had Crowley on stating how Clarks endorsement is meaningless. Yesterday that other lightwieght, Tucker Carlson spent a great amount of time further smear Clark.

It's not going to stop the marching orders were put out on Clark way way back and the storm troopers will continue to smear him given any chance they have.

8. How about "Sterling Dingleberry" for a name?
I'm getting sick of noncandidates piling on Wes Clark, who at least had the courage to freaking run!

Donna Brazile, as of three minutes ago, is now on my shit list. She and Bay Buchanan are on CNN talking nasty about Clark's intended endorsement of Kerry tomorrow. Brazile said (paraphrased), "Clark is one less person for the volunteers to call. That's all it means. His endorsement is meaningless."

Well Donna Brazile, guess what? I might not even vote for any Dem you support, you coward.

I'm going to post this outside this thread, I'm so stinking mad at her for being so dismissive of Clark and the 375,000 people who voted for him in those 14 primaries.

4. obscure blogger
Don't see how Newberry had any effect on the outcome of the primaries.

I supported Clark, and donated to his campaign, but sadly there just weren't enough of us.

6. Newberry is ALL of what you said!
This guy is more then a few cards short of a full deck. The way you have describe the events is 100% on spot.

I was part of the Draft Clark movement and when Newberry pulled these stunts he was cast out faster then you can say, "get the prozac".

At this point it really doesn't matter what this guy has to say and actually this post is the most of heard of him in several months.

11. he did a short little performance here at DU
very bizarre - and quickly exposed - and more than a bit puzzling to those of us who were not familiar with the draft clark movement - then *poof* (or zap?!) he was gone. But the whole odd episode remains in my mind. Sorry that he continued to cause trouble.

9. Sounds like the name of a character in a Harry Potter book
But seriously, what does this have to do with anything now that Clark is no longer in the race.

12. I don't know "Stirling Newberry" he sounds like a bad guy but hardly a
common name on DU? Thanks for the alert about this guy though. I take it from your earlier posts he's on that "Daily KOS" blog thingey. I don't read it...so I'm immune to "Stirling Newberry's" attacks against Clark.

I appreciate all your posts on this today....but really....I don't think he has alot of influence here...
