1. If he does, he'll have a (brief) ratings surge, and then go back to
his relative obscurity. That dude gets NO ratings! That's what makes this hullabaloo so hysterical.

4. Now I wish we would turn our attention to all the others who are profiting from
this same kind of language.
ANY performer, musician, rapper, whatever... of any race or gender or religion or sexual orientation, who uses this or any other kind of slur against those of other races, genders, religions or sexual orientations, is equally guilty.

Just because we ARE free to say what we want doesn't mean we SHOULD say it.
Let's be consistent and call it what it is wherever and by whomever it occurs.
And let's make them stop. Not just Imus. All of them.

5. This was bad, but
Ann Coulter and Rush say horribly offensive crap all the time, especially Coulter, and it doesn't seem to get this much attention!

20. See, that's my problem with this.
Although, Ann Coulter's column was dropped in a number of newspapers after complaints. Rush, however, remains the hero of the redneck right.

23. coultergeist gets a lot of
ATTENTION around here when she goes off on one of her hate spews..and she got dropped by some newspapers, too.

And there are those among us(don't have the stomach) who keep track of what limpbaughs says so we can know what the fucking enemy is brainwashing America with.

This has gotten a lot of well deserved attention because ol' imus "was a disaster waiting to happen and it happened"(KO).. imus created the Perfect Storm for himself by insulting Black Female College Basketball Players and it was his Waterloo.

Lots of people were saying he shouldn't be fired..well guess what? He was and it's a Victory for taking back our airwaves from the hatemongers.

24. Keith Olberman asked Rev Jesse Jackson twice about this
a few minutes ago. Jackson deflected the question both times going right back to Imus.

13. If nothing else, it will sure make those other guys sit up and maybe just shut up.
I also realized while responding to another post on this thread that I haven't heard a whole lot out of Ann Coulter since the stink about her 'faggot' comment awhile back. I wonder if after the shit hit the fan so thoroughly for Imus if there might not be a bit of a backlash building against the O'Lielly's, Limpballs, Imanass's and...ok, I can't think of one for 'Stern'.

Ain't no fucking first amendment protection for that.

Ahh, that felt good. Loves me that first amendment.
Maybe I need to become a shock jock.
Or maybe star in a Tarantino flick.

19. YOU realize, don't you, that this isn't a 1st Amendments issue???
Not in the least, no how, no way. First Amendment ONLY guarantees that the government can't censor your speech. Any private entity with any "ownership" rights can censor to their hearts' content. NBC owned the morning hours on MSNBC and said: we censor you, Imus. It's usually considered editorial control.
