8. I'm a clark supporter and I'm not mad. I think Clark needs
to endorse Kerry to keep the race to the WH going. As Clark said himself there was not too many differences between each candidates platform on the major issues. Just because Kerry voted for the IWR doesn't mean Clark is going to hold out on his endorsement and slow down Kerry.

12. Clark endorsed Kerry?
Huh? Then why did he talk with reporters about Kerry "imploding" over an intern?

Clark was talking about it to reporters (I confirmed it independently from the Drudge piece).
http://www.dailykos.com/

So Clark talks "off the record" with reporters saying Kerry will "implode", and then gives his endorsement to Kerry? What the hell is up with that? Anybody would think that Clark wants kerry to be the nominee - but also wants him to lose the election...

I wonder if those "crypto-Republican" accusations may have some basis?

25. First, where did Clark say Kerry would 'implode?'
Second, he endorses him, and that makes him a crypto-Republican? Perhaps we have an information overload here.

43. Here:
Drudge posted this:

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue."
http://www.drudgereport.com/mattjk1.htm

And this was posted at the Daily Kos:

Then again, Lehane likely had access to Kerry's internal oppo when he worked for him. Given that Clark was talking about Kerry's "intern problem", it would lend credence to this theory. And like I said, I have independent confirmation that Clark did, indeed, make those comments. And given that these allegations have been circulating for several weeks, it's possible Lehane leaked this hoping it would break sooner. But knowing it was going to explode, why would Clark drop out? It doesn't seem to make sense.
http://www.dailykos.com/

So, if Clark was talking to reporters about Kerry's "intern problem" and that he was going to "implode", then why did he endorse Kerry?

As I said, it looks like Clark wants Kerry to get the nomination but to lose the election. Why would he want that UNLESS the accusations of Clark being a "crypto-Republican" are true?

15. Sez you!
Kerry is part of the pork-laden, special-interest establishment that keeps talking the talk without walking the walk. I'm not particularly fond of Dean, but as a *former* Clark supporter (and I mean $upporter), I'd aruther vote for Dean than Kerry.

Now when I think of Clark, I can't help but think "you sold out, brother!"

Woodruff is just *tearing* into Clark. What a mediawhore. She's still giving him no respect. And I especially like that she NOW has Clark on her show, now that he's out of the race.

Of course, General Clark handled her shots handily.

32. Clark manhandles Woodruff
She alluded to the potential Kerry endorsement, and said that Clark had previously railed on Kerry's positions. Clark smoothed it over nicely, underscoring the unity of the Democratic candidates' positions that Bush misled the public and took us into an unnecessary war, and continued to criticize the Bush Admin.

She railed on Clark's campaign, asking which of the smears (IWR vote, abortion, skipping Iowa, etc) hurt his campaign the most. Clark responded that they couldn't have done Iowa, and that there was a steamroller effect coming out of Iowa which was too much for candidates to overcome.

49. Which would seem to indicate that
the Drudge thing is baloney, as I said in the other Inside Politics thread. Because Judy always loves to jump on Drudge "scoops" and yet made no mention of it. If there was anything to it, she could easily have called "Time" and the other news organizations he claimed was investigating this and confirmed it.

34. Here is some of what he said.
Pretty much repeated the comments from yesterday's interviews about the campaign itself. And beat up on Chimpy again.

On Kerry: Hasn't endorsed him yet, will meet with him tomorrow. Said that although in his campaign he disagreed with Kerry on some issues, the party needs to unite to get Bush out. Said that in spite of JK's IWR vote, as a veteran, he believes he would only use force as a very last resort.

He danced around the questions trying to pin him down on the endorsement but it seems clear he will.

37. Clark did a great job with the interview
He got his major points in, very cleverly sidestepping the questions he did not want to answer. Of course, he did not say he would endorse Kerry. Why steal his own thunder before the event??? Instead he said he "looks forward to meeting with John" tomorrow in Wisconsin.

Great segment.

47. I can see why the mediawhores hate him
Clark again manhandled an interviewer trying to trip him up. The guy's got laser focus and easily reframes the interviewer's question to his broader message.

We've GOTTA keep this guy in front of the camera for the next 8 months. (And, dog willing, in front of Rehnquist next January.)

51. Yeah, lame
McMahon looks into the camera, telling us Clark supporters that Dean is the only remaining anti-war candidate (oops!, right, Woodruff corrects him, Kucinich, too).

Sorry Steve, I love Howard Dean, but I need to vote for a candidate who stands a chance of getting *some* of my agenda actually *implemented* -- and not just talked about for the next 8 months. Swing voters across swing states are not going to put our national security into the hands of a man with no national security experience.

Dean could have won the GE in 2000, and maybe at some point in the future, but not this Fall.
