Rove must be livid
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 03:13 PM by xray s
He must feel like the headliner comic who hears all his 'A' material being used by the opening act.

I am sure he was hoping to drop the scarlet letter on Kerry a little closer to November. Oh well. Things are just not going Karl's way these days.

Meanwhile, that which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.

Now...what tidbit do we hit back with...suggestions?

1. Hit back with the AWOL issue. Be undistracted.
That way the maneuver really won't have worked.

18. hit back
Has anyone thought maybe, just maybe Bush was in the brigg during the time that can't be accounted for? He keeps saying he "did his time"!

3. AwOL Bush was "resignating" pretty good for a while...
...Perhaps a little reminder is in order:

"Hey, Rove! Why did James R Bath and George W Bush fail to take a medical?"

4. hee, hee
I bet that Clark endorsing Kerry (and thereby implicitly repudiating the Drudge sludge) sent him into conniptions. I hope he had been saving that bit of slime for another time and just wasted it.

5. Then who ordered the hit?
Your post states that Rove would have preferred this to come out later on. So, was this an Democratic party insider job?

11. I think Rove did
but he would have rather used it later and was forced to use it now because the AWOL issue is too stcky and has to be suppressed.

10. Yes indeed!
I think the Council of Economic Advisors endorsement of job exporting by the US is an excellent place to start! It has Bush's signature on it.

14. Yes
And go beyond the raw employment numbers and point out that average wages are falling too, as Sen Kennedy so aptly pointed out on the Senate floor yesterday. We are in a target rich environment.

16. The New Republican Platform.
You know the sludge crap about Kerry.... I just want to know when they are going to "officially" include it in their platform...

It seems that that is just about all that they have to offer the country these days....

17. an interesting take on things
http://www.dailykos.com/ (third entry right now)

So who pushed the story? Rove would have every reason to do so, given his boy was getting pummeled on the AWOL story. So he could take the pressure off Bush and start a Clinton-like smear campaign against the Democratic frontrunner.

(snip)

And then there's Hesiod's find, that the GOP made this exact charge against Clinton in 1992:

In the final -- absolute final phase of the 1992 campaign when Bush was going down the tubes, he with -- with, I think some push from some of the people around the Bush operation, he was at the time -- he'd been defeated in his primary but he was still the chairman of the House Campaign Committee in him name, and using a statement that he put out at a press conference that he had. They accused Clinton of having an affair with a woman wire service reporter covering his campaign, which was not so.
