What did Clark get in return from Kerry for such a critical endorsement?
No doubt, there's been some furious backroom dealing going on in the last few hours from the Kerry camp, trying to squelch the affair crapola that they found in their breakfast this morning.

My guess is that the General, who has had concerns about financially taking care of his family, is now going to be taken care of, a job, something, I figure... see how democracy really works!

Like it?

1. I don't think Wes Clark is concerned
about taking care of his family. Has has a reasonable net worth and could look forward to high bookings on the speakers tour. I suspect that he really wants to oust Bush and is looking for the best place to carry on the attack.

That said, he'd make a wonderful Sec of State in a Dem administration should one come about.

6. Secretary of State

I can think of no better person to be Secretary of State.

As a general, Clark would be a USELESS VP. He has ZERO experience working in the legislature. The typical role of the Veep is as a legislative liaison.

5. Gee, maybe he was sincere in his desire to help oust Bush in November,
and is willing to do what it takes to help assure that.

No, that can't be it. He must be taking cash or interns or something.

He has no concerns about financially taking care of his family. He's quite comfortable and can make millions as a public speaker if he so chooses.

14. Politically speaking, I would like to see Clark as VP

1) I could work with the Kerry people under this scenario

2) It puts Wes "in line" for the top job in 2012

3) Wes vs. Cheney - in prime time

Oh, yes.

22. No...
cabinet positions aren't generally made public until after the election.

Nobody wants to be known as "the would-be-secretary-of-state-if-only-his-guy-hadn't-lost"

19. Now Clark doesnt have to deal
With the results of the consequences of his making the statements about Kerry and an intern. That is the only direct source that Drudge has for the report. If untrue, Clark would face serious problems going on with his campaign for making the "off the record stateents to the press".

Clark will probably be made Secretary of Defense, not Secretary of State, as soneone with Clarks abilities is going to have to be placed in charge of withdrawal of troops from Iraq, and re-distribution to other flash points like Afghanistan, to start looking fo Osama more in earnest.

24. Before running
Clark was making $30k a speech.

A fact which Kerry is well aware of, since he used it in one of his attack pieces. So no, it's not likely to be a CMB buyout. Despite how you "figure" democracy really works.

8. If you make a highly questionable and inflammatory factual assertion about a candidate, you must provide a link to a reputable source to back up your claim. Rumor-mongering is not allowed. Allegedly "innocent" questions which are actually an underhanded effort to spread rumors are not allowed. If you really need to know the answer to your question, try Google.
